You conflate timed ingame events with timed only-available-in-this-specific-region-of-the-world events. The former I hope they re-run because it sucks they have content in the game you can't do, the latter I don't mind going to the store, at least it becomes available for the part of the world square forgot exists. Same with all those shitty exclusive items tied to some god-awful plastic statue or CDs or whatever crap they try to sell you when all you really want is the ingame goods.

It only took two years to arrive at the shop.It may be possible to obtain this item via other means in the future.
Imagine running region locked events in MMO game
If I look long enough I'll find a rant post on the forums regarding the oh so exclusive odin, shiva, ultimate, omega emotes tied to the limited plastic statues sold for a time and the resellers on E-Bay and other sites charging $400 for the statue "[NO CODE]" because they want their money back after getting their code. Something SE should address directly, but again I doubt it.You conflate timed ingame events with timed only-available-in-this-specific-region-of-the-world events. The former I hope they re-run because it sucks they have content in the game you can't do, the latter I don't mind going to the store, at least it becomes available for the part of the world square forgot exists. IMO I think it is because they need to work with outside companies, Take the black fat choco with the KFC collaboration for example KFC is franchised outside of the US to separate companies meaning SE would have to deal with every KFC franchise independently. This is mostly likely why they've given up doing collabs in the EU Because it's just so much leg work compared to JP and NA.
So, I imagine the problem with collabs is that the Devs don't just have free rein to do whatever they want; they are probably written in *excruciating* detail how the items will be attainable, and for how long. So that's really another thing entirely.
I'm not opposed to the cash-shop having items. But I do agree, it feels like a disproportionate amount of new content is added there, when it feels like they're kind of skimping a bit on actual in-game content and armor designs.
But FFXIV has always been pretty consistent that when things are "limited time" or "retired", they come to the cash-shop later. Which again, I'm totally cool with.
Hoping we can get more Holiday stuff, though. The emote was fine, but I'd honestly love a cool new, over-the-top Halloween costume design. Something like these guys:

Should be free to those who took part and never got the emote. Have a friend who took part and never got the emote.Gonna be real here, that grubhub collab sucked ass and the pizza should've been free as an apology to everyone who participated. I know so many people who bought and didn't even get a code because they "ran out" or something ridiculous like that.
Saying this as someone who's had the emote from the event since it began. The Panda Express I ordered took like 40 minutes to arrive, cost triple what it would have if I'd just picked it up myself, and arrived lukewarm in a soggy box. Grubhub is trash. I was lucky to even get a code. 7 dollars is an insult on principle.
