Thats because not many people are saying this is an issue. Its like that literally noone memeThere was a few threads about that "problem" at release it was once again never addressed/acknowledged or anything obviously.
That music is not fit for BGM. It's not bad in itself, but having in on repeat make it annoying ; so much that at one point you start to hate it.
So yeah, it's /bgm trigger for me every time I goes there now.
They could have done something about this issue with the Omicrons (like put a "dymanis orchestrion" in the pub) but either they didn't care or our feedback was lost in translation like often.
Considering how quickly you go through each "part" of the zone, the transitions would just be a mess OR the game audio wont be able to pick it up and have some glitches. If the zone had instanced barriers then yeah but thats a lot to keep up just to solve a problem that normally isnt a problem, its a personal nitpick and this is what this all is. Im sorryShe still has a point. The current BGM for Ultima Thule and the lyrics is felt the strongest when it plays for the first time after you get to a certain point in the MSQ. It loses its luster a bit when you zone into UT and it just plays all the time afterwards. I think my previous suggestion with the BGM changing when you're traversing certain parts of the map would be good here, and this version plays only when hovering around the ascension ramps leading up to the Dead Sun.
I won't spoil anything for you, but I suggest doing the Omnicron tribal quests.

It would be no different than what is currently experienced when traversing through an area of the map dedicated to tribal quests. It definitely wouldn't be any worse than the BGM interruption that takes place when entering a FATE zone. The only difference is you don't really have a reason to stay there other than to listen to the full version of the music, and this isn't out of the norm either because Primogenitor (Midgarsormr's theme) would play in Azys La when you're in Tiamat's vicinity prior to her departure, and this musical transition is far more extreme in this zone than it would be in Ultima Thule. I am currently not aware of any issues or glitches pertaining to this.Considering how quickly you go through each "part" of the zone, the transitions would just be a mess OR the game audio wont be able to pick it up and have some glitches. As someone who oddly finds comfort and tranquility in dark themed musical scores and scenery like when arriving at Ultima Thule the first time, or tracks like Xarcabard from FFXI, I get why someone would still like to hear them when visiting the zones, and why changes are frowned upon. It's a fair criticism to have.
I feel the same way about such songs, Echoes in the Distance was probably the first song in the game that made me stop and actually listen to it there's just something unique/haunting about it, like a recording playing in an empty stadium. As someone who oddly finds comfort and tranquility in dark themed musical scores and scenery like when arriving at Ultima Thule the first time, or tracks like Xarcabard from FFXI, I get why someone would still like to hear them when visiting the zones, and why changes are frowned upon. I'm mainly just sad that if I wanted to listen to it again I have to go to the zone, and then activate NG+ which is cumbersome, or go to youtube where Square keeps taking down videos of it with DMCA's.
You know what should be changed though? That part of the MSQ where you're getting the ship ready to go to Ultima Thule and it's just blasting that one song on 11. It's like I'm just trying to do my taxes and there's a concert going off in the room.
I still like my idea better with portable orchestrion. Its not a petty complainy, it has actual value into the game and itll help with people do whatever they want with the music.
Everyone wins

Should Honestly be separate Channels, like how Performance is.
Unlike other topics, Portable Radio which is something many have wanted for years.
won't treat the underlying cause/source of the gripe.
and the orchestrion rolls don't really exists, so it'd be treating symptoms that don't exist.
there needs to be separate music channels. like if you like Mount Music but don't want bgm on.
there needs to be a split.

Maybe have the option be on an npc for bgm music. while sure it could be nice and fancy to have it zone/area specific.
they would need to invest in having transitional barriers for zones and it working in general gameplay.(which could be a nice effect but would fade away in how much players notice. a have it or don't.
But if it was on a npc where you can freely toggle the BGM from the different types(which would only make sense in zones with a locked atmosphere. maybe even thrown in a glamour/illusory return zone to previous look. like the moongates of othard, or the hidden fogs of Thule and Mheg as another side option. for those who wish to take pictures.) But over all still only present in zones that don't have a rotating time of day.
If they could split off that bgm, just like performance is, and likely Portable Orchestrions will be(and mount music should be as well)
then it'll actually solve the issue, and maybe add more possibilities for later additions.(as the grounds for separate sound channels exist)

Any song that starts with an instrumental then goes into vocals about 10 seconds into it is always in for a bad time in FFXIV.I know this is late and probably just yelling into the void.
But please revert the Ultima Thule BGM back to the original version after doing the MSQ.
Close in the Distance was (keyword) a great song when played at the proper height of the MSQ, but it being played non-stop as the BGM for the entire zone is absurd.
Echoes in the Distance is much more fitting for the zone overall and is a great version of the song and there isn't even an orchestration roll of it.
Also please add an orchestration roll of Echoes in the Distance.
Because we're constantly going in and out of areas, cutscenes, etc etc etc so all you ever hear is that intro / vocal over. and over. and over again.
It's frustrating AF.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

+1 to a vocal-less version as the zone theme. Could make the vocals version the theme for the bar/omicron base or something.

Just add an option to access the orchestrion anywhere. I'd probably bother gathering scrolls then.
