If i cant do something, i look and say "can i try something different then?" . Rather then throw my hands up and immediately give up.
Limitation breed creativity.

The limitations are the game engine and the decorations available to use. The more decorations someone can use, the more freedom they have for placement, and the more room they can build into really elevates designs in this game. There is a reason a lot of the best designs are in larges using less space total than a small. I am using about 70%-ish of my medium's main floor for all 300 decorations. Apartments have the worst decoration-to-space ratio by a long shot.

The difference between a house & apartment is an apartment has too many limitations
It has less item space and you can't glitch the way folks would like in the way we can with a house. Houses have bottom floors; apartments do not.

Smalls have less item space then mediums which have less item space then largest. Its not unique to Apts. Its a argument that holds true for every sized house that isn't Large. Should I complain that the player with the medium has 1 more floor then I do? And should the medium player complain that the player with a large has more space?
Yes, you can...legitimately... add-on support for housing isn't supported. In that regard it doesn't matter. HOWEVER given that void builds do exist, items can be placed from the outside of the "block" through the floor. So, actually yes you can replicate the method used in [plots]. JUst not to the same degree which I grant you, but again I also cannot glitch to the same degree to my small that I could with a medium, or glitch a medium to the same degree of a large.

I need you to list actual limitations. That are a hard "you simply cant do this because you're in a apartment and not a plot". To give an example.
Apartments/FC rooms cannot have tenants. That is a clear distinction between Apt/FC rooms and plots interiors
Now you name me something.

*Nods* I have an apartment and an FC room that are fully decorated (and redecorated often lol) and so do most people complaining about the lack of houses. I also have a small house, for which I gave up a medium because the layout (interior and exterior) annoyed me. LOLApartments have an item limitation that can be restrictive. I did decorate an apartment before getting any of my houses, and creating a second floor is costly on your item space, especially if you're making custom stairs instead of using the generic 1-item piece stairs in-game.
That's not to say that I'd want them to forcibly add a second floor to apartments or smalls though. You can't remove or edit stairs that are actually a part of the house. Just give us more item space instead.
But since they decided to talk about the idea of housing mirage and/or interior customizations, might as well throw out what I’d like to see come out of it. They may very well just end up allowing us to choose from the existing housing interior layouts and call it a day, and it would still be a good thing. But if there’s the potential for more options that we could choose between, that would be even better.
I would just really like them to remove both pillars and windows. The built in windows don't match any of the imitation ones.

One thing that doesn't make any sense in the housing is the main wall, pillars and roof apparences inside the house despite the outside design.
The door and window do change but not the rest which make huge contrast (For exemple, try putting an occidental style house inside Shirogane. The pillars, wall and roof will still be oriental on the inside.
This force most of player to use walls on an other material just to "hide" the original wall. Which reduce the amount of stuff you can place by a huge margin AND the overall physical place you have in reality.
Also, the pillars on the large house are a pain to deal with cause the only way to hide them is to enclose them between 4 wall.
So, along with the option to "suppress" those pillar, I wish to see a whole change in the inside that actually match the outside apparences. Including Walls, Pïllars, Roof, and Stairs

I really like your idea and I really hope that the housing mirage will be what we hope it will be. But since we don’t know much more, and knowing the devs it might be something in the style of “you can turn your large into medium or small and turn your medium into small while keeping item limit” and you could not turn small into a larger one.
I would laugh through tears if that’s the case.

Love these ideas hun! <3Though we don’t have any real details yet, we know the basic idea is that you could have any size interior housing space inside any size house. There’s also been talk of removing pillars, and other interior customization, which may or may not be part of the same project. So what do you want to see?
I’d like to see an attic added to smalls… very simple in terms of layout:
And a similar layout for mediums, with the staircases on the sides of the house instead of the front. I know I’m not the only one who was frustrated with those staircases! lol So what if we tried this?
If we aren’t able to get those kind of custom layouts though, I’d like to be able to add extra rooms to personals like FCs do. But along with that, I’d like to be able to choose where the doorway to the additional chambers is placed.
I’d also like the ability to move or remove interior windows as well as pillars.
A hope is that bright light burning within each and everyone of us!

My wish is simple.
I want a large/mansion interior on a small exterior.
