    Constant lag/delay (region: Qatar)

I am posting here specifically because of the location I mentioned, but also because I tried some fixes but alas no improvement.

I am having constant 250-300ms (pinging EU servers different times) which is horrible because it immediately prevents me from playing content (P12S P1 before moving here) or even the current Fall Guys event due to delay between what I am seeing and what actually happens in the game. Aside from 1s delay after casting spells, crafting macros that sometimes skips a step..etc.

Previously I've been in Italy and did not have a lag issue at all, so it is definitely a network issue, not a hardware one. Funny enough, I didn't have as much lag when I was in both Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Here are some info in case someone could help. I would be grateful needless to say.

    Ookla speedtest: Download 90mbps | Upload 94mbps | ping 17ms
Provider: Ooredoo (maybe it relates but I don't know what can I ask them if I had to call)
Internet connection: Wifi/Cable[CAT6] (it persists in both cases)
    Datacenter/server: Light/Twintania
    Location: Qatar

Please let me know if there are any other info that can help!

    Greetings ThundraO,

I'm really sorry to hear that it appears that you may be experiencing connectivity issues. We would like to ask for the following information to get a better idea of the issue:

    - Error messages (If any):
    - Has this been a long on-going issue or has this only been occurring very recently:
    - Frequency at which error occurs (If this occurs during specific hours, please provide the date(s), time and timezone):
    - Are there other programs being used when running FFXIV?:
    - Please re-confirm the ISP and what region/country are you connecting from?:

We would also like to ask what you have tried so far to alleviate the issue:

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Thanks for getting back to me Eenkalzet!

    - No error message, only when I disconnect (but that's because internet is down) but it's the general one, nothing relevant because of this issue.

    - This issue has been happening since I arrived to Qatar, but before (in Europe, Germany) it wasn't an issue at all.

    - I tried to test this individually but it's happening almost on all times. Although I noticed a bigger delay during peak hours but even in early morning it still delays enough to mess up craft macros, e.g. /ac then <wait .2/.3> no longer works because of internet delay. I had to extend them to .4 and .5 and even then sometimes it still skips a step.

    - Discord, mostly voice chat for Savage content, although not using it ***sometimes*** reduces the latency, but even without it, it often persists sadly.

    - Region: Qatar
    - ISP: Ooredoo
    - asn/name: AS42298 Ooredoo Q.S.C.
    - asn data: https://bgp.he.net/AS42298
    - resmon (resource monitor) latency: 260-320

Please let me know if you need additional info. Thanks a lot!

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with game data. Many actions can trigger this error, such as a slow internet connection, certain security/privacy changes on the default Internet browser, an application running in the background causing interference, use of a VPN or an odd connection (EG: schools or cafes), a possible virus detected on the device, many rapid payments at once, and numerous other actions.

We advise clearing the cache/cookies/browsing data from your default web browser, disabling any web browser extensions (EG: ad-blocker), switching to private/incognito mode, switching to Microsoft Edge and trying again. You may also try using a smartphone running on a mobile data connection (WiFi disabled). We also suggest resetting the connection (router/modem) you are using to connect to the Internet before trying again.

Open the control panel of the PC and go to ‘Network and Internet’. Once there select ‘Internet Options’
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
*Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

Lastly, check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.
Lastly, we suggest to power cycle the console and router by shutting down the PlayStation 4/Router and leaving the power supply unplugged for 5-10 minutes.

Thank you once again for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!
