If it's going to be based off housing then you want Dynamis unless you're prepared to black market a house for 100m+ gil on a populated server.

If you want the other stuff, Aether.

You can't get all 3 easily since Dyna is underpopulated and Aether/Primal have a lack of housing.

I understand, and should have probably mentioned I play this game incredibly slow and casually, so don't ever expect to be doing current content right as it rolls out. I'm less worried about being able to DC travel (and plan to do so when need be), and moreso if Dynamis doesn't end up with a stable enough population to justify Square Enix having the servers around. Not sure if they'd shut it all down and merge what's over there or not, but if they did, I wouldn't be able to keep a house anyways..

Yes, housing is my main focus, and been DC traveling around here as of late to get used to it since it's new to me and get a feel for available plots/marketboard stability. The one question I keep coming back to is: can I do as well selling items on Dynamis as I do on Balmung? To me, that's the only thing Balmung offers as I'm more familiar with selling there.

I took your suggestion and even visited Midgardsormr, it seems nice and I may have ended up choosing your server but the amount of available plots on Dynamis is massive in comparison to anywhere else, and even if they do fill up here before long each server still has five empty wards that likely won't unlock until 7.0 launches and that alone is just too tempting to me. Maybe I'm just too focused on Medium housing plots, but I like the possibility of bidding on one without 70 other people being there, too.

Maybe that will change when xbox launces who knows. But do know 7.0 comes around DC and server travel may be suspended for the first few weeks so keep that in mind.
I originally started on Gilgamesh during the 2.0 beta and should probably have just stayed there but I do like the community on Balmung, haven't had any bad player experiences. Played on various RP servers in MMOs, even if I don't RP, and can also say the people I've met were nice to be around. If anyone I knew still played, I might stay, but with DC travel the only thing that really sets the servers apart now seems to be marketboard prices. I do wish they could have servers split between time zones but it's probably too late for that now.

So if you didn't RP it wasn't an ideal place to be anymore.
Yeah I found out recently just what Congested means now, the days of making alts at 4 AM to get into Balmung are long gone it seems. I spoke with some very helpful people on Seraph earlier and got most of my questions answered! They even convinced me to move there, until I realized the server is also Congested...just can't catch a break lol.

As others have said, you can always use data center travel to do content if you wish. I think the longest transfer time I've had in the last 3 months was 90 seconds (I'm usually data center hopping to buy bargains and not for doing content).
Economy wise I guess as long as I list things low enough, people will hop over to wherever I am to buy things if they want it. Profit might take longer but it's still there at least(you may have even suggested to tailor my expectations to that in a different thread while responding to someone else, if so, thanks for the insight!). At this point I'm considering Halicarnassus as Seraph is locked and being the second most populated server, the economy should be a bit healthier than the other two. Hali only has like 40 less available plots too so that's an easy trade off. I do find it weird the first few wards on every server are mostly taken by obviously the same people but just assumed those were bots keeping that real estate for later to try and profit and SE would deal with them eventually, then again some people are just nuts about being in those first wards.

Yes/no. Most people will server hop in their data center to find the lowest prices, only those who are really concerned with counting every penny will go so far as DC traveling for items. You're better off making an alt on a populated server and market flipping cause I can guarantee it will move 10x faster than anything on Dyna. In general though, most people on Dyna will go to other data centers for queues and purchase stuff there because convenience.
