How do you guys think SE will accommodate more account/ wide features since Blizzcon?

Bugger it didn't put it, but I said DC wide.

If you haven't seen it, Blizzcon was just this past weekend, and with it, they unveiled a plethora of features that will be accessible to all of your characters. After years of complaints and criticisms, they have seemingly solved a lot of the really big issues of alts within World of Warcraft. With features like cross realm guilds and cross realm mythic raiding, transmog(glamour) restrictions being lifted(all classes can wear all armor), cross realm grouping, account unlocks galore, and etc.

While in this game, none of those features exist. Sure, we have cross realm link shells and communities, but they are limited to your DC.

I think going forward, we need something. Because at this rate, World of Warcraft is looking far, far more appealing. We have worse flying now, glamour systems, free companies, endgame progression(I would imagine it's still an rng clown fiesta, but accessibility is why I said it cross realm mythic raiding etc.), and casual progression since it sounds like Wow is actually making criterion the right way, storage systems, and much more.

I'm not here to say x game is better than x game. I'm really not, but this is an arms race, and Blizzard just showed their hand.

And even if they don't go the alt route, give us cross data center Party Finder and cross datacenter Duty Finder and cross datacenter Free Companies. Give us more than what we have.

There will eventually be a point where they have to acknowledge that change, and additions, and updates to features need to happen. Whether that happens sooner, or 4+ years from now, is beyond me. I just want them to understand that XIV, post Endwalker, is now in a position of extreme scrutiny. Experimentation is a risk, I get that, but they've had 10+ years of gameplay and ideas to drawn upon, plus a previous MMO to take inspiration from, which they have done, and seems are doing again. I hope they come up with something and not just adhere to the status quo.

That said, it'd be nice if aether current unlocks were account-wide (among many things).

Also, even just cross DC stuff in general. Yeah, we can travel, but not being able to just do it from a player perspective feels bad. In Wow, my buddy can just invite me to a group and queue for dungeons without having to queue for either server. And while I understand that it's probably a server issue, I just think there has to be some way if that's what the cloud datacenter is going to be for then perfect. It's just what I've described you could do in Wow 10 years ago. I just think the speed at which SE is going with improvements on the technical end has been extremely slow, and more often, then not the fix is some convaluted way to do it. I'm not a tech guy, so who knows. I just hope they stop dragging their feet.

We still have single character mounts and glams which is making them big bucks as a lot of people have alts

so they'll pretty much do nothing as it's a good money machine.

Also cross DC party finder and duty finder should have been in the game a long time ago, no idea why it isnt, dc travel through regions as well.

This is false. They are simply allowing any class to obtain the transmogs for other classes:

Transmogrification Collection: This system will expand to allow players on one character to add additional class specific items that they can’t equip to their transmog collection. This allows a player on a mage character to collect a warrior item and be able to add it to the transmog collection for use on your warrior character instead.

And we already have most of what you listed regarding cross realm.

Every day that passes I hear more about these WoW improvements makes me consider trying it again more and more. And not even just for the things it does, or will do, better than XIV. When Legion launched, some friends convinced me to play. Everything was on sale, so I dove in and boosted a character. I was always just a casual WoW player, barely even dipped my toes in before that, but running around the Legion zones with a couple of friends on a pvp server just doing the story content was, without sarcasm, the most fun I've had in an MMO.

I doubt I'll ever "drop" XIV, or even entertain the idea, I just like this game too much. But at this rate, I'll probably end up trying WoW again in the wait before Dawntrail, and I wonder if I'll want to keep playing it. I just want XIV to grab me again, but to do that, I feel like they need to shake things up.

Ah, ok. That's what I heard from the grape vine. I already considered Wow's system better anyway so I didn't jump into seeing the particulars of it. Thanks for clarification.

Bahahahahahah. Seriously as a Dynamis player my queues are dead. I have to logout of the game right click my character navigate to the datacenter I want wait in a queue for it to put me there and then queue. In Wow I can just queue. And that's not getting into cross realm raiding/guilds etc. It's not even remotely the same.

Oh wait, we cant even play on dynamis because we cant even do MSQ dungeons/trials thanks to the lack of cross DC features.

Everyone who moves the goal post on when Dynamis will get "better" without cross dc features are the one's who spend 99% of their time on other DCs, making the problem worse. Let's be real here.

Mostly character-based, but that works for this game because you can play everything on one character, so it lacks context to say this game hasn't done it.

We don't have this and Yoshi-P has strongly defended not having it and how tanks should look tanky, casters should look like casters and so on. It could change now, it would just be a "why now? why not 10 years ago?" thing to me.

I have felt that cross-world FCs are a next logical step for quite some time, but when the Community Finder released, I noticed they display cross-world linkshells as if they are the cross-world FCs. It's not quite the same, but similar I guess since chat is a main aspect of FCs. You can also join cross-world linkshells on other data centers that you visit.

The truth is though, that this isn't a major issue in FFXIV. Almost every FC that exists has a discord server and because of how the majority of FFXIV players are casual, discord actually works better for them because they can communicate with their FC while playing other games or at work. The discord aspect of FFXIV is so massive that it allows many people to get alerts for events across data centers and it is just not really a major problem.

Almost the only people who actually use an FC chat instead of discord are the hardcore players, who login all the time. To get social interaction in the actual game you have to seek out and find actual hardcore players, amongst the huge sea of casual players.

We have worse flying now

I mean, it would be nice to have guild wars-like flight, but it is rare for MMORPGs to have that and it's not really a big deal. This game's main focus is instance content so changing how we fly in the open world would kinda be... a nice thing but then we'd forget about it.

I am actually sure that this is on their mind, especially now they are looking deeper into using cloud servers. But I think it will take them time because that's how these things are. Let's see where we are with these suggestions in the final patch of Dawntrail. We may have them already by then or they may be announced around then. Let's see.
