I'm definitely coming back to FFXIV but the question is when. I logged on and noticed all my gear and spells were different so I fear being a little lost in lvl 22 boots and lvl 1 experience. Is there really anything to gain from starting now as opposed to after the reboot? The only thing I am aware of is the Gobbue which is pretty cool, granted but does it warrant a race to 30 and forgetting a bit of story / quests?

Thank you!
Whenever you feel like starting. Seriously don't overthink it. I mean really, what's the worse case scenario??? You start a new character for 2.0. That's really not so bad, and honestly you might have just started over anyway. Best case scenario is you get familiar with the game and have some fun until 2.0 hits. What's bad about either of those situations? If you want to start, just start. If you don't feel like dealing with learning all the new crap, just wait. That simple.

I'm almost certain a LOT of people will create new characters for 2.0, even though we get to keep ours. I mean who doesn't want to see what the early levelling content is like? Or just to get that fresh feeling? Or to get a new name/face/hair change? New characters will be free in 2.0 btw so there is really no reason to avoid making a new character. That being said, just play if you want to play. Why ask the forum trolls lol?
