Sometimes I think about playing another MMO, but then I think

Will I be able to have social interactions as good as in this game? Probably not.
Will the story be as good as in this game? Definitely not.
Will I be able to grind faster? It depends.
Will I have more content to do? Also depends.
It's the monetization system fair? Most likely not.
Do the devs listen to their playerbase? Probably not.
Is the combat more fun end engaging? Probably.
Are the bosses and mechanics more interesting? Probably not.

Funny how this game is still the best MMO there is even though how shitty it still is.

Let's be honest, besides this, WoW, ESO, OSRS and GW2, there's not much choice, and each of them have their particular glaring issues. The rest are just disguised casinos.

Other mmos have the wrong formula of being (more or less) free to play.. and that leads to a buttloads of problems.

I have no loyalty to mmos, I simply continue to play FFXIV because I enjoy logging in. If I'm not having fun, I log out. If I find that I'm logging out immediately after logging in for a week or two, that's a sign I should unsub for a few months.

There are so many amazing games out there, it'd be a shame to feel forced to stick with only one.

Probably because it comes across like virtue signaling.
Most people aren't logging out because they are burned out, they are logging out because they are bored. Unsubbing which has been proven time and time again does not rekindle the spark upon return. It's the same game, with the same content. The answer isn't to unsub, it's to quit and move on if you aren't having fun anymore. I know this to be true because the vast majority of people only stay subbed out of fear of losing their homes. This suggests that they want to remain in this game but are lacking incentive to stay in this game.

I will never understand why someone would continue to sub so they can use a house in the game they don't enjoy. If you don't enjoy the game who cares about the house? I certainly wouldn't.
