There is way more to it than that. Bot-controlled cap-level players with familiar names from since Shadowbringers can still be found around. They're barely banning MSQ and chat-spam bots and leaving at that. It's also incredibly naive to think every bot account uses fraudulent payment information. They make a lot more money back than it costs them to have accounts subbed.

I'm aware there are some players using botting programs just as RMT does. The player operated bots tend to behave more like normal players, though, and generally aren't noticed unless someone is going out of their way to look for them.

The vast majority of the bot problem comes from the major RMT sellers, though, and it's those bots that generate the complaints such as the OP's. They're using obvious hacks that catch player attention not to mention all the ad spam that gets generated.

In both cases, the only way to get rid of the bots permanently is to get rid of the players who want to cheat. Focusing solely on the bots leaves the endless parade active because as long as there is someone willing to pay real money to cheat, someone else is going to be happy to provide the service. Remove one provider and another will appear.

If it's going to be like this with no discernible intervention from anyone in charge, then Square should issue an apology to everyone who moved to Dynamis and let them transfer off for free if they want to. It might result in some bots jumping ship too, but at least you wouldn't be stuck dealing with the worst of both worlds. Like... Balmung's got bots too, but at least we also have real players to offset the bot presence. When it's just majority bots, that sucks ass.

The majority aren't bots by any means but you're right that having large amounts of players standing around AFK helps to hide their presence. Like any MMO, you eventually learn to ignore the bots as long as they're not directly in your face.

Dynamis wouldn't have the problems associated it with it if players with Dynamis characters would play on Dynamis instead of hopping to one of the other data centers. Data center travel goes both ways - if friends playing on different data centers want to play together, they can just as easily come to Dynamis as have the Dynamis players go to the other data center. But because the Dynamis players almost automatically choose to go elsewhere, it leaves the Dynamis worlds on the empty side.

I still think all data centers would benefit is SE shut down data center travel to worlds locked to new character creation (except for players returning to their home worlds). Players on those worlds would still have the option to join their friends on non-locked worlds to do content together.

Lol, they won't ban them. Botting is a key money maker for square. I suggest you dive into the world of XIV botting and RMT to really understand just how deep it is. Don't worry about getting banned since there is not enforcement action actually taken. Ask me how I know.
