Dawntrail hype in a nutshell

What I'm unfortunately prepared for is more of having too many conflicts in the story where the group is at a low, and having one npc walk in and provide a convenient macguffin that instantly solves the problem, with absolutely zero input from the player. See: the literal first cutscene in patch 6.5 MSQ. It makes me genuinely upset when it happens.

That seemed a lot more reasonable to me than Urianger showing up out of nowhere in the Lochs to hand us the "disable Fordola's Echo" rod or Hydaelyn conveniently granting us the power to revive everyone in UT before anyone (including her) could have known there would be such a need.

I'm glad we're not a complete Mary Sue with the answers to every problem and that our companions make important contributions independent of us. It only comes across poorly when we get a sudden solution to a problem we didn't know we were going to have.

I don't even care if companions have answers to questions, I just want new ones that would make sense to know answers about Tural since they have lived there for their entire lives. I just want SE to give me a new cast that they can build on and let the WoL build new relationships with instead of reusing the same characters who have been fleshed out and have run to conclusion for most of their development. That's kind of why I am wanting Erenville, Krille, and (potentially) Femhroth as our team for Tural and let the rest of the Scions do their own thing there as our rival group.

Another solution is instead of us having answers immediately available through our well-read companions, we just don't know the answers until we learn more through the story and we can come to the answer ourselves through developing our own knowledge about what is going on.

I would love this. I'm very ok with being in "Team B" for a while, and to have new faces that are going to stick around for longer than 1 or 1.5 expansions. Having Varshahn stick around for the Void arc was nice, but I have a feeling we won't be seeing much, or any, of him in Dawntrail.

And though this is a personal take, I'm a bit sick of so many characters now written being so well-spoken, eloquent, and especially quippy. Some of them less so than others, but plenty of established characters now are so "in their final state" that it's become suffocating to me. I'm aware these aren't character flaws, and to suddenly change them would feel off, but I would still like a break from some of them and see new ones with interesting personalities.

EDIT: I just realized what it was I was trying to put into words. It's that I want to get away from the cast of scholarly types. I like Krile because she isn't quippy, and I like Erenville because he's just some guy. I hope they aren't just shoved into the back of the group in DT.

Seeing it already: "Oh no! The great big McEvil Guy has changed time, space, the amount of dimensions and increased the sub costs! We will all shatter into nothing!" 5 Minutes later: Y'shtola: "So there is this book i found that no one ever bothered to read..." *proceeds to explain how we can use Aether and Dynamis to do exactly what we want without drawbacks but tells us it's dangerous somehow* -- Kills all tension everytime it happens

I love the Scions, and I know I'm not alone. I feel a little bad for you guys on the forums who are sick of them, but overall I'm glad SE is catering to me and others like me. Bring on G'raha with a big fat taco!

The hype in every expansion is pretty much the same. New zones, new jobs. Then there's the disappointment that ultimately every job sees some older abilities get stripped away. Grind to level cap on MSQ on first job. Grind PvP or roulettes and then dungeons or sidequests on remaining jobs. Rinse and repeat.

Agreed, citizen. I'm quite miffed the Scions will be following the WoL around like lost puppies again. They should all be sent to the Aetherial Sea.

Imagine if the ones who are with us are actually familiars and not the real scions as we did not have enough power or skill to fully bring them back.
