Them,
These Two,
And her.
These are the only ones I feel any connection with. Hell in some cases the generals in FFXI:WotG had more to offer.

The npc i liked the most was neneko from the miner story line. I want her to be my npc partner so bad![]()

Well, I had a crush on Corguevais for as long as he lasted in Ul'dah's main story. I rushed through my first 20 lvls just to see what happened actually, and was quite happy when a whole CG animation showed up with him. XD Those were the days, way back in 2010, when I played the game for its story.

I really like Papalymo and Kan-E-Senna. Oh and her little sister is also funny, if not a bit bossy. Merlwyb is also awesome, and I'm Gridanian. lol
I think it just needs more time (and a bit more dedication combined with awesome CSs!).
Also, I so get the OP's point. Does anyone else remember all the names of the ministers of Windurst? lol
I think XI was really good at combining seemingly unimportant NPCs with (main) missions so you really had the feel they were more than just bland persons. There is a reason why Shantotto (<3) is a character in Dissidia (though, I wouldn't call her a minor character *hides in fear*).
The GC leaders are pretty awesome at least, and we have some pretty cool villains actually, if a little generic. All in all, things got waaaaay better on the story and character front once the new team took over, and the GC quests are infinitely better than the worthless story missions were. Really looking forward to see what sort of direction they take with the story in 2.0.
EDIT: On a side note, they really need to cut out this horrible habit of giving barely pronouncable names to characters. Most of the people in this thread just have to say "That Mi'qote from that quest" or whatever because no-one can even pronounce these damn names, let alone remember them.

I only like Kan-E-Senna, Merlwyb, and Not-Grahf. I've pretty much given up on characters in this game until 2.0. Especially since the "main" storyline is on a hiatus and they're simply throwing all this umbral era bizz in our face.
XI actually made me care about minor NPCs.

I remember Sisipu, but only because I hate her so much.
I like the girl from the Grid storyline, but I can't remember her name.
Merlwyb is nice. Hate Kan-E-Senna as well. Don't feel much either way about Raughadahshagdasns or whatever his name is.
Thancred is cool, too, though a little too bishonen.
F'lhaminn was okay but only because she was associated with strippers at the Miner's guild.
EDIT: HOW DID I FORGET HILDIBRAND AND HIS MIQO'TE ASSISTANT? God. I love those two.
I would like Paplymo better if his voice wasn't grating.
