    Aside from wanting more Gelmorra, if the next one is HW or SHB, I suppose I would want something a horror theming to it. If the next one is in dawntrail, I suppose I would want something that evoked a sort of "wild western" vibe based on what we saw for the secret area.

    Frankly, I'd rather they just scrap the variant dungeons entirely, and put the work of them into standard level 90 dungeons instead.
    I could believe that the 9 total paths equal about the work of 5 total dungeons; so then we could be back to getting 2 dungeons per patch again.
    Nothing the variants have offered so far would come even close to beating that. (And that's sad...)

    I do think though a roulette of variants is not feasible. There are too many variables and people who would want to get their 1 last ending only to be shooed way by the other players wanting the fastest route for tomes or a certain boss they want to see.

    So if they are indeed going by expansions before going to other locations we can infer that:

    Heavensward, Shadowbringers, and Dawntrail criterion’s are next since A Realm Reborn, Stormblood, and Endwalker were used.

    If you count the South Sea Isles as Endwalker. That may be an expansion location of its own someday on different islands, and the only thing that makes it Endwalker is the NPC that accompanies you, and the fact that it involves a voyage from Thavnair.

    My hope: The unused door in Dravania will be a criterion. That on the First we will go on a trip with Lyna. Plus she could even fight beside the player. Would be fun! That Dawntrail will shed more lore light on the New World with entries and exploration of a Criterion. I really hope they don’t mess that one up. Would help the people mad about the Vanadiel raids.

    Thats because it is. Its literally a shard so of course it should feel detached. Unless the end of this game revolves around reuniting the shards into the Source to be a super planet without killing everyone.

    As much as I love more optional dungeons. People will give even less of a shit about them just like the prior dungeons due to them being roulette fodder.

    I rather have both; keep Variants for its unqiue style of play but also introduce more optional dungeons. They can do this but they wont because its too much work and I rather them not abandoning a piece of new content but to further polish and improve on the system. The content is fun, its literally just the rewards being so ass.

    That and axe the whole Criterion Savage thing. We shouldnt need 3 difficulty options and make the content padded out; just have a normal version (Variant) and a savage version (Criterion).

    Variant could do with some spicing up, sure, but scrapping it only to go back to the most boring wall-to-wall pull fest? Does not compute. lol

    On the contrary, keep the three difficulty levels but make the middle one medium difficulty. Make it a "final test" on all the mechanics we previously saw in the variants.
