Second Criterion Dungeon was rediculous when I first tried it, worth a try now?

Pretty much what it says on the tin, my group, one member of which regularly does Ult and Savage content with a different static, tried to do the second criterion dungeon and the while we managed to squeek by one boss, the samurai armor boss with the almost impossible to read and remember attack pattern of switching attacks based on what his facing was going to turn into rather than what it was when he signaled it, was almost impossible for us to pull off, it was simultaneously too tanky and too complex for us to get by and after about the 7th try we just rage quitted out. Yes, this was in normal mode.

I'm curious if they adjusted that at all, and if it's worth giving the dungeon a shot again? Because frankly the bosses, even with 1 tank and 3 dps, were just too ridiculously tanky, with far too much health, to be anything but a massive slog to fight (protip squenix if you read this. People play this game to see enemy health bars get SMALLER. We'll put up with insta kill mechanics, rediculous pattern dancing, and similar shit, but there's few things as disheartening as seeing ALL of that nonsense and ontop of it barely doing a chunk of the enemy's hp when you're all geared up and supposedly ready for the 'normal' content.)

I just want to do the story content ffs, I don't do ults or savages because I'm a self admitted scrub, I play casually and it kinda sucks when Square changes their stance on 'normal is meant to be accessible' to the ridiculous nonsense that was in the second criterion dungeon when I tried it last time.

So, has it been made more accessible?

Rokkon is still as bullshit as it once was.
    Apparantly Aloalo isn't as difficult.

How the hell did you get to the armor boss with 1 tank and 3dps in Criterion? Did you mean Variant?

I'm just surprised cuz it sounds like your crew is both incredibly good at the game yet you're making it out like you're struggling based on what you're saying.

Yeah, his facing/swinging is tough, but that's not a normal/savage thing though. It's tough because it's literally the first time they've ever implemented a mechanic that works that way, so don't feel bad if it's tough to figure out at first. I try to look at their new ideas as a chance to have fun; I get that battle stuff isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's only gonna be tough for so long if you stick with it.

The trick is that he turns on each swing, so it helps to reorient your camera to his new 'rear' for each swing if he's doing multiple in a row.

I also think most normal stuff has been pretty accessible this expansion, this is like a tiny niche piece of content you're talking about and a specific one of them at that, and it sounds like a specific boss at that. It's strange to write off the whole company as 'changing their stance' because of one dungeon that gave you a tough time.

No, they haven't changed it at all, pretty sure all the bosses had about 5 minute enrages anyways. If you meant Variant Mount Rokkon, maybe your gear wasn't great when you did it, or maybe your crew was so overwhelmed by the mechanics everyone had a hard time executing their rotations so the bosses took forever. If that's the case, it might be easier to attempt it with like 4 tanks or healers or something, because as long as you remember to use the action 'Variant Spirit Dart' every 30 seconds, non DPS jobs contribute comparable damage for much less work in Variant, so it's easier to focus on dodging Mr. Samarmor's swings instead of being diverted by your busier DPS job actions.

yeah I meant variant, sorry. And you are right on the entire thing, it's why this one was so shocking.

Variant is easy to solo on any job. You don’t need a group. As for the samurai, all you need to to is watch the direction of his attack.
