    PvP Suggestion

So, this is my first post. I don't really use online forums due to social anxiety, but I figured I'd break through it and make a thread because even though I love this game to pieces, there's something about it that's been bothering me greatly and it concerns PvP. I tried contacting support about this but they defer in-game suggestions to the forums so that's why I've had to come here.

Now, I'm part of the minority in this. It's a very niche problem and a lot of people may not understand it, however, I would appreciate it if you remained respectful. I've rarely had a problem with the community in this game which is why I love it so much, so I'm hoping it's a similar thing here.

So, I haven't touched a single PvP game at all in my several years of playing. I've exclusively been a PvE player, but I really want to play PvP and obtain the exclusive rewards. However, a couple things keep me from trying it.

I speak mainly of the PvP profile. From the looks of it, most game modes track your win/loss rate which is something that has always put me off playing PvP games. I don't want to see how many times I've lost compared to many I've won. Frontline even shows how many times you've ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I don't want that. I would much prefer if that was hidden from both my view and that of other players, including my Lodestone profile. I know some players prefer being able to see their stats though, so what if there was an option to toggle stat tracking and visibility, or, create a separate PvP mode that disables stat tracking altogether while still allowing you to participate in the normal game modes? That way, both parties are satisfied. Either way, I personally want to be able to hide these statistics from view and permanently keep those numbers at zero while still being able to take part in PvP so I don't have to stress out about my own performance and enjoy the game, win or lose. I think Gold Saucer's Mahjong panel has these kind of stats too.

The only exception to the W/L rate seems to be CC which only shows victories and your highest tier, which is fine, but why isn't this the same for the other game modes? Either way, I still have another issue with the FOMO seasonal pass. I haven't took part since the first season, so I'm thinking why even bother if I can't obtain past rewards? I would much prefer if these rewards were obtainable at your own pace via wolf marks or something. This is one aspect of FFXIV that disappoints me, as part of why I was drawn to this game was the fact that seasonal event items you missed out on could normally be bought later from the online store.

I know this suggestion is a long shot, but I might as well try. I just hope people understand is all.

    Thanks for reading.

TL;DR: Add an option to remove or hide statistics on the PvP/Lodestone profile. Also change the PvP season pass to allow its rewards to be obtained via pvp-specific currency, or even the online store at the very least.

For your wl ratio displayed in your in game ui, you just need to have thicker skin honestly. Otherwise, pvp isn't exactly for you. For lodestone display, well, that's an entire different issue. Why can't l set my lodestone page to private?

While I understand the discomfort, I have to agree with Eastwall here. PVP is an inherently competitive environment, stat-tracking is one of the many ways that you can track progress and also weigh yourself in versus other players. It's just a layer of the competitive aspect of PVP.

No disrespect to your discomfort, but an environment where the entire point is competition might not be the best space for your playstyle.

Your stats are not public on the lodestone. Only you can see them. You can only view your personal stats when you are logged on and are viewing your own character. The only thing they publish is your number of victories if you make it top 100. Now, if you can’t look at your own stats, that’s a personal problem and they shouldn’t make adjustments for that.

I have just a couple of points - first of all , I'm glad that you made a thread. Just to let you know however there is a dedicated section for PVP discussion, so don't be surprised if it gets moved there.

Secondly, I wanted to comment on "Also change the PvP season pass to allow its rewards to be obtained via in-game currency, or even the online store at the very least"- the rewards for season and series should obtained via PvP, and this should be the only means available- not via currency (gil) and definitely not via the store.

To do otherwise would not only result in a decline in participation (penalizing people who like PvP and would queue anyway), but result in an even greater lack of an incentive for people to improve when they do participate.

Sorry I should have clarified here, I meant pvp-specific currency such as wolf marks. I didn't mean gil.

They do, because that's all they can do, but let's be honest here and say the developers are in Japan and more likely to read the Japanese forum, so it's not worth expecting much to come of posting here. But no harm in trying if you can break through the anxiety.

I don't want to see how many times I've lost compared to many I've won.
Well, don't look at it then. It's mostly irrelevant. Usually it's going to be something like 33% whatever you do. For Frontline, my performance is 1st place 27%, 2nd place 36%, 3rd place 36%. For Rival Wings, it's 39% because it's easier to influence who wins in that and therefore I did.

hidden from both my view and that of other players, including my Lodestone profile.
You can hide almost everything on your profile except mounts, minions and class/job level. It does not show it to anyone but yourself. At least most people don't have it showing if it's possible to.

I don't have to stress out about my own performance and enjoy the game, win or lose.
I would suggest that you just stop stressing about it anyway. Nobody else cares what your performance is in PvP, so why should you? I mean, most people try their best and if they do well or not, nobody really cares.

In fact, if someone attacks your performance in the game, I recommend you report them. If someone attacks your performance on discord, I recommend you report them to any mutual discord servers and discord itself.

I think Gold Saucer's Mahjong panel has these kind of stats too.
Visible only to you. So again, irrelevant. Nobody hardly even looks at these stats. What do they matter?

I still have another issue with the FOMO seasonal pass. I haven't took part since the first season, so I'm thinking why even bother if I can't obtain past rewards?
I agree that I don't like FOMO, but to be fair there is hardly any FOMO in this game and PvP is one of the few things that has it, other than seasonal events.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."
