Firstly, I want to open this post by saying, i am a manga/visual artist with experience in designing costumes, weapons and armour. And i want to give my personal feedback about something thats been bothing me since early endwalker
Latley every second weapon is a glowing weapon, and tbh... its ruining glowing weapons and making this game look ugly. Let me explain. When a glowing weapon was a rare thing, like the odd relic or ultimate weapon, this wasnt SO much a big deal... but now EVERYTHING glows. every second relic stage, every savage weapon, even some job weapons now glow and for the health of these weapons.. this is deeply damaging
the glow was meant to be a great reward for completing something very hard or very long and was meant to make your weapon stand out. (NOW I KNOW CRAFTED WEAPONS EXISTED, but i allways saw them as there for budget players or sprouts to get into it. the weapons never looked HALF as good as relics or ultimates.) and latley the obscenity of them has been for me personally ruining the joy of getting glowing weapons. I feel latley like a small child being given a squeeky toy to shut me up by square...it all feels very transparrent
Why we dont need glowing weapons to make weapons stand out. For this part, i want to use asphodelous as my reference, i Loved the armour and weapons from in there, they all matched, had beautiful effects ONE colour and even a little glowing effect that wasnt super obnoxious. In the visual arts scene were told that you make a piece pop out by keeping it simple, working with less and that less is more. and these weapons are a beautiful example of that. ONE colour. flat, but extremly noticable and presteigous. and tbh i hope we get more like this..
The new tome weapons too, all of which are extremly beautiful with NO effects (ignore 665 criterion augment!) and i love them regardless of no glow. Now im not saying NO MORE glowing. but lets reduce it again back to just 2 types or weapons... relic and ultimate. savage should be like asphodealous. striking, but not obnoxious.
