    Unable to update patch files. [11006][20815][20866][19900][5] XInputXIV3.dll

    Hello everyone! I am currently unable to access ffxiv. I was downloading a patch when I ran into an error: "Unable to download patch files: ERROR [11006][20639][19900][5]". Here is a screenshot I took of the error prompt:



    I am currently running Windows 10 Wireless. Unfortunately Wired will not be possible in this one room. I have google chrome running in the background, and I have closed everything save for my antivirus.

    I have narrowed down the error as being localized to one patch in particular -




    It also gives me a file in particular in the error - XInputXIV3.dll.

    I have spent all afternoon trying solutions. VPS, Running in administrator mode, wiping FFXIV twice and reinstalling, changing the files to not read-only, restarting the computer multiple times and updating windows. I have also fiddled around with windows edge, as that was a solution someone suggested elsewhere!

    If there's a solution to this that does not require me to try fifty times I would really appreciate it! I'm pulling my hair out over this!!

    Currently trying to install it again. I am absolutely certain it has to do with a missing file that does not exist inside my installation, or some kind of file permissions error but I cannot be sure. At any rate, resetting router / using vpn does not get me past the error.

    Greetings minutetomidnight,

    I'm sorry for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Just to clarify the issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. I'd like to suggest the following:

    - Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in.
    - You can also try Right-Clicking on the FFXIV launcher icon and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FFXIV launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.
    - Within Microsoft Edge, click the "Settings" option on the top right of the browser (under the three dots shown) and go to "Privacy, Search and Services" and go to the "Tracking Prevention" section. Make sure it is turned on and select the "Balanced" option. Additionally, if any settings have been changed overall, it is best to keep things at default which you can perform manually by using the "Reset Settings" option under the "Settings" tab. Lastly, please ensure that Microsoft Edge is up to date by using the "Settings" > "About Microsoft Edge" option near the bottom left.

    Hello Eenkalzet. I will try these solutions in future. Unfortunately I had to install ffxiv on another system and transfer everything over. It was a rash decision but it worked, even though it was time consuming. Thank you for your response though. I definitely iwll be using your second point about setting ffxiv as 'always run as administrator'.
