If they add Ivalician Moogles to FFXIV, there's a perfect setup for their existence.

If they introduce Ivalician Moogles as a race in the future, they can justify their existence by explaining that the legend of Good King Moggle Mog descending from the heavens was a tale distorted over the centuries.

It was actually a faction of Pommed Loporrits that left the moon for the surface in the distant past. Modern moogles are branch descendants of these Pommed Loporrits.

Many of these Pommed Lopporits would settle in Ivalice and go on to use their advanced knowledge of technology (and obsession with prime numbers) to construct much of the technology found in Goug.

In terms of the world as the game and NPC's are written, playable Loporrits are entirely viable as well. The only people in game that see other players are other players, to every NPC out there none of the other players exist. So a player playing as a Loporrit would be the only one in the world in the eyes of the game world until you reached the moon. Running around on the moon you find there is 1 Loporrit building their own rocket to leave the moon meaning it's entirely possible others had done so in the past. Infact the existence of the Namingway minion gives possibility that it has happened in the past. There are a number of possible scenarios where a wayward adventurous Loporrit could end up in Eorzea suffering from memory loss. And despite you as the player seeing 100's or 1000's of other Loporrits running around everywhere, NPCs would see you as the only weird little talking rabbit out there.

I don't think that's good logic to stick to, though. It would greatly alter the mood of meeting the Loporrits in Endwalker – to one degree for other players and then another level again for someone who is suddenly "finding their lost tribe" rather than encountering an unfamiliar alien race.

And just because other players "don't exist" to NPCs doesn't stop other players from seeing them.

In any case, it's not so much that other players don't exist as that they aren't all WoLs and instead fill the role of random adventurers and townsfolk.

I was thinking more of a beast tribe race like the Bangaa if we return to Ivalice in a later expansion.

It was already confirmed long ago (way back in HW in fact), that Good King Moggle Mog was actually a distorted cultural meme of Chieftain Moggle, the first chieftain of Moghome in the Churning Mists and a haphazard recollection of the transporter from there down to Mourn in the Dravanian Forelands (which moogles used to escape from Nidhogg's rampage to the surface).

SE have already stated in the past that there is no new playable races coming, so I think we can pretty conclusively rule out Ivalician moogles being added in general (given we already have actual moogles in the game), let alone a playable race.

I'm talking about a race in terms of a beast tribe since Ivalician Moogles are a pretty big part of Ivalice but are absent in FFXIV's version of the area.

Even if they did announce they were going to add more races, I'd have difficulty getting excited considering the issues Viera/Hrothgar have.

If they can't handle even small deviations from the standard character designs effectively, it feel like it would automatically write off the notion of getting anything more distinctly non-human.

Yes, it would be much more likely to see them as a beast tribe than playable. No need for gear compatibility, no lore clashes because we don't meet them until after Endwalker.

Maybe FF14's version doesn't have them because this is FF14 and is not required to be a 1-to-1 copy.

It's worth taking those comments with a pinch of salt, doubly so since Yoshida has repeatedly done a near full 180 on comments over the years.

If the money, demand and will is there, it'll happen. Do I think it will? Eh probably not, but I'd certainly not rule it out. I can't see any reason why Ivalician Moogles wouldn't be able to share Lalafell assets with the existing bone scaling that's used for the other races. Wings could get the Viera ear treatment and simply not show most of the time, same goes for headgear, they've already shown their hand here.

Personally I'd love to see it even with those limitations.
