    Suggestion: "Pack" Equipment Slot

    My suggestion is to add a new equipment slot called Pack. Not only would this slot be for glam purposes (allowing characters to carry backpacks, satchels and other types of bags that would fit well with the idea of players being adventurers), it would also be capable of providing inventory slots for specific types of items that would be dependent on the pack. Packs would have no limitation based on job for functional purposes, but for glamour purposes they don't always appear on certain jobs. More specifically, if the job's weapon or tool while sheathed interferes massively with the bag (some glamours and even disabling sheathed weapons being shown will still work). Here are some examples of how this would work:

    Miner's Satchel: A satchel miner's use for holding ore they collect. Provide 4 additional slots that can only be used on Stone, Bone, and Reagents that can be gathered while Mining. Not always viewable on the following jobs: PLD, MNK, NIN, SAM, MCH, DNC, SMN, RDM, BLU, WHM, SCH, AST.

    Traveling Chef's Backpack: A backpack often used by chefs while on the road. Provides 8 additional slows that can only be used by Ingredients and Reagents used in Cooking. Not always viewable on the following jobs: PLD, WAR, DRK, GNB, DRG, RPR, BRD, MCH, BLM, SMN.


    Finally, to make these items scalable with time to ensure the developers can give more, they would start off only providing a couple of extra slots but one day could provide as much as each tab of our current inventory does.

    I think I would be satisfied with it being cosmetic in the form of an accesory (similar to how Wings work currently)

    While I don't feel particularly sold on the idea, it would be interesting to see how CBU3 designs a system around this concept

    I thought about it being a fashion accessory as well but fashion accessories don't show while in a duty. To me, a pack feels like something you should always have on you unless you choose to take it off; this should include duties. While some may argue "Why would you wear a pack into a boss fight," I would argue that not all duties are just boss fights nor would they, in a story timeline sense, give you the time to drop your pack somewhere safely. As such, it should be something that you can always have on should you choose to. Fashion accessories, by their programming design, simply can't do this. This was why I went with the equipment slot route. Of course, there needs to be a reason behind why it's an equipment slot. I aimed to create one.

    Technically we already do have an extra pack for storage, it's the Chocobo Satchel (although that doesn't show up physically).

    Physical bags were sort of part of equipabble belts that changed appearence based on what you had equipped back in 1.0, but that limited gear design in that body and leg wear had to be designed to accomodate belts being changable so that they would not clash or clip badly through them, and SE decided this was too limiting so it was one of the things they changed with ARR (belts no longer were visible and just became stat boosters, and were eventually removed completely with EW). I don't see them returning to it accordingly.

    More storage space is always greatly welcomed though!
