Hrothgar without ears look cursed. They still have muzzles.I personally want an option to hide animal ears from all races. (Viera, Miqote, Hrothgar, Aura)
Some of you may say it defeats the person of being that race and I just got to say is that I choose my face more on body type and facial features than the animalistic traits. I just want to be a male viera without those antenna ears sticking out.
Talking with a friend, and was noticing how a lot of gear that hides Miqo ears are modelled in ways that things are on top of where the ears would be. Really feels like they made it only for hyurs and didn't bother checking across races so they simply hide it instead
I love it when hats have Miqo'te ear pockets. I just think that they're so cute & charming.
One of my favourite pieces of headgear is the serpentskin hat of casting because of the cute ear pockets. I also really like the kudzu hats of casting/healing, the welkin hat, & other wizard hats with ear pockets.
I only have one Miqo'te character that I play, & when it comes to hats I mostly stuck to the big, wizardly ones. There are plenty out there that don't have any ear pockets (Stormblood-Dawntrail black mage artifact gearsets comes to mind...), which is pretty disappointing.
With big hats like that, though, you could shrug & rationalize the lack of ear pockets with something about there being enough space inside the hat itself for Miqo'te ears (& I would disagree), however, a lot of headgear has inexcusable exclusions of Miqo'te ears, like the street cap from the $22 USD plus tax street attire set from the online store. Like, what the hell is this?
One of the first results when looking up the street cap is a mod to let Miqo'te have their ears back.
& on a related note, they still haven't taken the time to implement good, wearable Viera & Hrothgar hats (without shrinking the hat, completely doing away with hairs & ears, &/or clipping ears through hats), but some random modder is out there painstakingly making otherwise invisible headgear wearable on Viera & Hrothgar without cutting any corners.
To be clear, I'm not endorsing the use of mods. The fact that players feel the need to step up & improve these quality of life features themselves because the developers are neglecting these features is unacceptable. I & hundreds of thousands of other players spend way too much money on this game to simply accept how they're handling all this.
Just give me the hats!!! I don't even care if you delete the ears
Bumping for support
I'm amazed at how this game boils down to "I'd rather have a poorly done job than nothing at all."
It's like... seriously?
We paid for this game, there's a paid store within the game, there's a subscription fee for it, and if we want to store more items, we have to pay monthly... and yet, we have to bow our heads and accept the bare minimum or nothing?
It wasn't by bowing our heads and accepting sloppy work that we got male Viera, female Hrothgar, improved faces in the benchmark, hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar, the return of Hrothgar ears when they decided it would be easier just to remove them from the new hairstyles... among many other things that were only achieved due to popular pressure.
This game used to be better cared for when it was just a gamble that could shut down in a few months, like many MMORPGs of that time, and now that it has become the most profitable in the FF franchise, they lower the quality? Honestly, I think we need to be much more critical of this.

God I wish more people shared this sentiment. They got too comfortable getting the sub money and just don't try to put in the effort they used to. I didn't pay 9 years of sub for the good devs to get promoted onto other projects and leave this one with the rookie devs. The quality drop post EW and into DT has been disappointing to say the least.I'm amazed at how this game boils down to "I'd rather have a poorly done job than nothing at all."

To be honest, I noticed the decline in quality since SHB, with unfinished races, the simplification of some jobs (and I even remember them ruining the bard, which only got fixed after a lot of complaints on the forum. I was even kicked out of a savage group to make room for a dancer). And everyone knows that Vieras and Hrothgars don't have feet, but they cut corners on that in this game too, or is it more like "I'd rather have my paws removed than not wear shoes"God I wish more people shared this sentiment. I made a post back then, saying I was worried about the direction things were going, especially when they added the finger snap emote and the Cruise Chaser mount to the Mogstation, two things a lot of people were asking for... and they did it again with the shadow keeper mount
SHB was also when I started noticing that they frequently began removing ears and tails from the races. I know that the well-made items were brought over from 1.0, and that after the events that led to ARR they had to cut costs, which is why some items lost their details, but come on! That's in the past now, and they say FFXIV is the most profitable, so do better.
I think you misunderstood what I said.I'm amazed at how this game boils down to "I'd rather have a poorly done job than nothing at all."

I'd rather have actual effort put into showing our ears rather than just have them stick out of the mesh. If that isn't possible, I'd rather not see the ears poke through the hat because in my opinion that is UGLY. You're entitled to have your own opinion, I find it unsightly, either do it correctly, or not do it at all.
You saying 'just show it guise' then quoting me is basically you saying:
"I don't care if they poorly do it!!! LET IT STICK OUT!"
Makes me wonder who is actually wanting a poorly done job here...?
