    market board botting

I'm sorry if this gets downvoted, and possibly downvoted an additional time in an alternate universe, because there is a forum dedicated to market board trading and feedback, but that forum doesn't get enough attention, so here I am begging somebody at SE to bring up the issue of market board botting. It's not a simple complaint from somebody mad that he or she got undercut by 1gil frequently... it's a complaint from somebody who can actually get on their app at any point in the day or night, and the same people with the same accounts will list their items for one gil less than whatever I just listed my price for enough times that my item will get shoved to the second page, so the buyer can never see that they were about to buy a pentameld for one more additional gil.

This is a clearly working strategy for anyone wanting to brutally hoard gil for themselves, and I'm ok with that if those people were real, but they are not. You can even find their locations, FC, etc... (and I was told about botters such as these for many years before I began crafting my own items recently) but now I am no longer a sceptic. Just visit the market board forums for additional information on players posting their experiences with market board bots and their evidences for making such claims.

I used to get annoyed at the 1 gil undercuts, then I started dropping my prices by 30 - 50%. My stuff gets bought, I make some gil, I move on. If you have something you really think will hold a specific gil amount, then wait. It'll sell if the price is good and demand is high.

nah right now im literally doing a live experiment to myself to see how far they will go lol. At this point it doesn't matter. I just want them to go, but I'm thinking of taking one of the lowest demand items down to ridiculously stupid low price range just to see.

Not sure why you think SE pays any more or any less attention to one subforum compared to others. Players might pay less attention but theirs isn't necessary.

If you have evidence that a player is botting, submit it to the STF (Special Task Force) for review and investigation. We know that take action because there have been crafters suspected of botting that will suddenly disappear from the market board though it doesn't happen as fast as players would like, and some names stay active (likely because STF can't get evidence that botting is involved with those crafters).

Hoarding gil isn't that much of a problem because gil is almost unnecessary in this game once a player starts unlocking level 50 features and it's so easily earned through game play. It's only a problem if RMT is involved.

I just want to stress that the best thing to do if you suspect someone of botting is to report it to the STF. Not enough players visit the forums or even care about who's doing what to sell items to make a difference.

I spent close to a year trying to get multiple people on my server who multibox three or more DoL/H bots banned to no avail, so I'm not really sure what it takes to get anything done to them.

Mao agrees with Tasty Bunny! If want sell fast then do big undercuttings. Otherwise, just let it ride. Will sell eventually.

This is the way to handle it sadly.

There's only a handful of items that you can leave up on the MB that will retain their value consistently, but I do wish there was a better system than the MB. The way the MB works promotes the idea of people sitting at their retainer bells adjusting the prices as often as possible to beat out the competition. There's nothing wrong with people adjusting prices. Free market and all that. It's more so that MB bots are the logical end result of this system since it's all about whoever has the most time to sit at their retainers adjusting prices at any given opportunity.

Considering that you can only access retainers on your home server it's a bit unfortunate. Retainer space is a bit of a commodity and being unable to just leave items up for weeks on end without having to readjust means that space gets taken up pretty quickly. I used to dump mid to late game items/mats on the MB just to try and support my server/DC but it's at the point where if it's not above a certain value it gets sold to a shop or becomes a part of my weekly doman donations just to get rid of it.

Eh... 1gil undercut per sé isn't an issue, but the automation of it via scripting / botting is the crux here.
