    MSQ Speculation

So now that we've seen the Eliminator and Cerulian mining and we know about the city of gold is there any thoughts as to what everything could be about.

I'm still thinking that part of this is a thread that picks up on what "Amon" was doing before he decided to help out Zenos.

I would guess that we find Allagan royalty or the like that are now awake and rebuilding the Empire to it's former glory. They would have been stuck in stasis inside the golden city or somewhere nearby. The eliminator may be something similar to the Diabolos machine found under Bozja. They perhaps adapted it to run on cerulium at this point since accessing voidsent is a bit of an issue.

It's not another 10 year story, but a fight against the reborn empire with an empress or the like in charge could definitely span multiple expansions and multiple continents. I still think it will be only a few pure Allagans that rely on cloning tech or powerful mammets to build an army and they will eventually try to find a way to tap the atherial sea for soul batteries.

I would strongly prefer that they develop new lore instead of going back to things like Amon, Allagans, Garlemald. It makes the world feel much smaller to have every single thing be connected back to the same stuff we've been experiencing. The new expansion is a good opportunity to get away from the old lore and introduce new things. Easter eggs & hints, sure. But wouldn't you rather see something completely new?

    I agree.

As as much as I'd like to see Meracydia, I do hope that the reason we're heading to Tural is to step away from Allagan shenanigans for a time. Which would be difficult to do with Meracydia.

I don't think they can go back to the Allagans again, it'll literally start becoming a meme at some point.

I mean...the Allagans had space travel before eventually dying off. So they legit could bring in a group from a colony or something started by a group of Allagans who fecked off into space.

If you read some of the descriptions for each turn of I believe Second Coils of Bahamut. It makes mention on I believe turn 3, about your group finding themselves not only 3KM underground, but inside of a Ragnarok-class starship.

So, the option is there but it is also a ridiculously silly idea.

There is no indication the Allag ever actually used their spacecraft for anything other than maintaining Dalamud in orbit (the Ragnarok-class ships were more properly 'internment hulks', basically flying transport and containment facilities for moving the dragons imprisoned within Dalamud to sustain Bahamut as part of the sun/Dalamud/Crystal Tower power system; and the Heimdall class (such as the one that ended up crashing on the moon) were basically just for monitoring Dalamud and ensuring Bahamut didn't break free.

To my knowledge there is no mention at all of the Allag "taking the Empire to the stars" or anything, their spacecraft were essentially just glorified airships (and even seemed to be used as such - it's what Helix's rotating dock in Azys Lla is for specifically - a dock for Ragnarok class vessels.).

So based on that alone I doubt there is some 'long lost colony world' of the Allag out there in the Sea of Stars... but, who knows.

The description for the Hyperstellar Downconverter in Azys Lla suggests otherwise. From page 166 of EE1 (but I think also in the sightseeing log in-game):

Engineers surmise that the Hyperstellar Downconverter was developed to communicate with Dalamud, the false moon containing Bahamut which had been propelled into the heavens. It was later repurposed and improved upon to facilitate communication over the massive distances between stars.
So... space colony? Unmanned probes? Omega trying to phone home?

Nice catch! I admit I didn't notice that one, so thanks for pointing that out!

Of course it doesn't prove there is a lost Battlestar Galactica-style Allagan colony out there somewhere, but... yeah... I do concede the very remote possibility now at least.
