Unable to make new characters on any server

I tried to make a new character on North America data center Aether on the world Siren and I keep getting an error stating: "This account has no available character slots. To create a new character, you must first delete an existing one by selecting the "Delete" option from the subcommand menu". I only have one character on Siren and a total of 15 characters on Aether. I have a full paid subscription so I should be able to have 8 characters per world. I tried to create a character on all of the different North America data centers and European data centers and get this error on all of them.

I did just try just to check the other data centers (Japan & Oceanian Data Centers) and I can get to the Character Selection screen to make a new character on those. So it appears to be only North America & Europe data centers that I can not. I am not sure if this helps to track the problem down or not. I am physically located in the NA.

And the saga continues: I think square is working on this as now I can create characters on all data centers except NA Aether & EU Light. Mind you I am checking this before logging off for the night so things have shifted around because this morning I could not create any on any servers. Not sure what is happening but fingers crossed this will be fixed.

Update: Today all the NA data centers are showing this error but the EU, JA, OCE are all good. Weird how it keeps shifting data centers. I hope this get fixed soon as I will not be paying for 8 characters for my account if I can not make any new ones on the non congested NA server worlds.

I am having the exact same issue. I can not make any new characters on any world in NA or EU. I have not tried Japan, but I assume it will be the same result. I also have a full subscription and I am making the characters on worlds where I have zero to seven current characters and fewer than 40 on the data center.

I just checked as well. I can make characters on Japanese and Australian servers. Just not EU or NA.

I can now make characters n Chaos, but not Light. I am still unable to make a character on any of the 4 NA data centers.

I'm very sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. If you're receiving this system prompt then this could mean that despite not having a total of 8 characters on the specific server, the account in question may already have a total of 40 characters on the Physical Data Center. If this could be the case then that would simply mean that the account has reached its limit of possible characters and as per the error prompt you've received it will require that you delete a character to open up an available slot.

For clarification between a Physical Data Center and the Logical Data Center, you may check this available guide on the server status page: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...us/#datacenter Then please click on the link located on "For an explanation on data centers, please refer to Physical and Logical Data Centers."

So as an example if you are trying to create a character on the North American Data Center (Physical Data Center) on Aether (Logical Data Center) and the specific server Siren (World) but are getting this prompt, this could mean that you currently have a total of 40 characters spread between all the Logical Data Centers (Aether, Crystal, Dynamis and Primal) which are all under 1 Physical Data Center which is the North American Data Center. As per the standard subscription an account can have a total of 40 Characters per Physical Data Center.

I did a count and I do have 40 characters across the NA data center. Thanks for that clarification!

The problem is fixed thanks so much for your help Eenkalzet!!! The error was user error. I did not know that the character limit was 40 Characters per Physical data center. I thought it was 40 characters per each server. When I went through all 4 na and deleted a few characters the problem is resolved. Thank you so much and so sorry to bother the forum about this due to my misunderstanding. Live and Learn I guess I appreciate your help and thanks again.
