Return option for tomestone and raid token purchases

Today I accidentally bought fending armor for my body instead of striking armor. This cost 825 tomestones of comedy, which are weekly capped at 450 as of the time of this post. I not only lost the tomestones, but the time spent acquiring those tomestones over 2 weeks. This felt terrible because that was several hours of my time, spent over two weeks down the drain. Because the item restoration function is a "once per life of account" thing, I had no course of remedy for this simple mistake. Which got me thinking, why does FFXIV not have a return function for gear vendors?

World of Warcraft has had a working return system for over a decade. In World of Warcraft, I am able to return gear that has been purchased from a gear vendor with in-game currency within 1 hour of said purchase, assuming I haven't worn or altered the gear. Normal shops already have a buyback menu, so why can't a system be implemented that does the opposite? This would be a massive quality of life improvement and keep many players from becoming mad or irritated at the game for wasting their time. I myself considered unsubbing from the game until Dawntrail I was so infuriated. I am a careful person, but even I still make a mistake like this about once a year. Other players may slip up more often and I can only imagine their constant frustration.

Add a function like this to the game please. The alternatives are frustrated players or allowing more item restorations per account (which would do nothing to solve the problem and overload the support desk).

The game specifically warns you if you buy armour for a job you don't currently have active (i.e. Fending gear if you are a Black Mage right now) and won't warn you if you buy gear that your job can wear (Striking gear as a Monk). It is extremely unlikely that they will give you a refund option for mistakes like these in the future.

If you made a mistake, you made a mistake. You can temporarily use an i650 armour from Alliance Raids or upgrade i640 crafted armour into i650 until you have the tomes again. Consider playing tank a bit to make use of the armour you bought.

I understand what you are saying, I did make a mistake. It doesn't matter if the mistake was due to my negligence or questionable menu design, or a mix of both, the mistake was made and the only thing to be done afterwards is to see what can be done about it. But just saying "it is what it is, deal with it" is not the right attitude to have regarding quality of life suggestions. If it can be done and would reduce player frustration, I don't see why we need to stick to tradition.
