I think this might be a lighting thing, cause I've noticed it on almost every face I've fantasia'd to.

I hope they fix it so that they always remain closed like when you press your lips with a concentrated emote, for instance. Not all faces have this so I'm pretty sure it's simply a graphical thing they left out and never fixed. That Alphinaud of all things has it too is weird.
Since there's people in this thread asking for it to stay, then SE should include keeping it as an option in the character creation menu.
It appears to be related to the camera angle you use to look at the character. Low-angle shots and views will make this very obvious, whereas normal or high-angle views will remove it completely. I'm not entirely sure it's intended but they just never got to fix it.
There are other graphical glitches that are not so obvious but were never changed. For example, the area on the right side of the upper chest next to the arm in male miqo'te (and likely other races) has a weird looking straight vertical-ish line that is absent or way less obvious on the left side. This line will be very noticeable if you use gear such as the Asphodelos Maiming or Striking chestpieces. It's probably meant as the area separating main body and arm but it's jarring that it's so clear on one side compared to the other.
I suspect they'll "fix" it, but I kinda hope they don't.
That said, if they take away the darker nose on face 4, we should all riot.
The character updates we've seen thus far have been leaning towards removing any uniqueness or imperfections. I could easily see this getting removed too, unfortunately.
For as much as they've went on about keeping the same look, that Elezen they showed barely even looks like the same character.

The facial structure is completely different to the point it changes entirely, the lips are thicker, the eyelashes make the new one look sleepy, the eyes are a different color, and it looks like someone left an Instagram filter on too high of a setting.
Literally the only thing that's the same is the general idea of "guy with elf ears" and the hair.

Oh please. Feedback is great, leave all the feedback you want, but saying the new Elezen face is a radical departure from the original is completely delusional.

Ignore them, their account is dodgy to say the least, and it's the same rhetoric on all feedback accounts. They have existed for years and haven't been a massive issue, this is true! But they're literally doing a full graphics overhaul for player characters, and are listening to feedback. This is the time to point out minor issues like this, because they're already working to address them.
Yes, it's a minor issue. That's why I never bothered them about it before they themselves decided they'd be updating appearances and making small model changes. I'm sorry this comes off as ungrateful complaining to you, but this seemed like the only time it'd be worth bringing up.
Just like CidH is atm.
They don't offer reasons, or ways to appease any group. Just Conflict.
I remind others that if it's too egregious in your opinion. the Triangle with the exclamation point exists on comments for reasons.
