I’m not optimistic at all. Looks like another builder/spender with a slightly faster GCD.

If you told me this was an old Ninja reveal trailer i would have believed you. I barely see any difference.
It's definitely the "less spectacular" of the DPS jobs. Looks surprisingly down to earth (Comparatively) to the other melees. That naturally makes it look underwhelming but I guess that's the point of the whole Expansion? To bring things down so that they can start building up again.
It seems like a class built on the use of poisons and exotic substances. Like a Witcher, where you imbue yourself with augmenting aether to hit harder. At least judging from the blue fire aura? The double blades make me think of Zidane from FFIX. I definitely expect some of the weapons from that game to show up next.
I am personally underwhelmed. It looks really generic. The weapon is kind of cool I guess?
That being said, I’m a caster main, so this was never going to be my thing. Hoping that the green mage or whatever silly name they come up with is at the JP fan fest in a couple of months.
Dudes have seen 4 GCD and one CD and already think the job looks lame.

Reaper reveal trailer didn't do much more. Pretty sure people just remember the highly colourful and in your face weapon trails, I know that drew me in initially as well.
This.
When people say "some people are going to complain about anything" or "some people refuse to be pleased", this is the sort of thing they're talking about.
SCH looked boring in the Media Tour but Expedience turned out to be hugely successful and enjoyed by people, and SCH is still the meta pick and has been for all of EW. There's an old saying:
"Don't judge a book by its cover."
At least wait until you see what the mechanics are.
.
As for the Job itself:
As a person who loves Rogue/Thief archetypes and dislikes Ninja, I'm happy we finally have a Rogue/Thief JOB (not relegated to a class you just upgrade out of). Though I kinda dislike the whole "will be highly technical" thing. I thought that's what NIN was? Having a second Scouting Job that is also highly technical makes little sense to me...but whatever.
I would honestly not even worry about their comment about it being "technically demanding", I'm pretty sure they said something similar with RPR around its reveal too and that job is very beginner friendly (albeit with some very poorly worded tooltips that made things more complicated than they actually are). until we get more info on the job later on I'm going to chalk the comment up to relating to its GCD speed or possibly high APM, whichever way that ends up manifesting as.As a person who loves Rogue/Thief archetypes and dislikes Ninja, I'm happy we finally have a Rogue/Thief JOB (not relegated to a class you just upgrade out of). Yoshida has gone on record stating that the development team intentionally designs new expansion jobs to be entry level and we can see that reflected in RDM, DNC, RPR, etc. I doubt they would suddenly want to change that philosophy now.
If they could snap their fingers and redesign every job perfectly in a heartbeat, they'd probably make every job entry level. MMOs are at their best when everything is inviting, regardless of how easy or hard it is to play at its technical limits. The important thing is that making a class easy to approach doesn't mean making it equally as difficult to master. Or, to put it another way, maximizing SAM is very different than maximizing RDM, and that's a good thing.I would honestly not even worry about their comment about it being "technically demanding", I'm pretty sure they said something similar with RPR around its reveal too and that job is very beginner friendly (albeit with some very poorly worded tooltips that made things more complicated than they actually are). until we get more info on the job later on I'm going to chalk the comment up to relating to its GCD speed or possibly high APM, whichever way that ends up manifesting as.

Likewise, technical is also a term that can be applied to anything. Summoner, arguably the easiest job to play in the game, is a very technical job. Especially in ultimates where the exact order of skills can heavily swing the ease of the class.
To me, I interpret technical in this connotation as a job that has a relatively fixed rotation. Something closer to SAM, DRG, or MCH, as opposed to BRD, RDM, or DNC. I'd see it being only as freeform as BLM's standard rotation (explicitly) at best with the terminology 'technical.'
