It would most likely just be like the Ivalice raids, a FFXIV-specific area with FFXIV lore that takes names, themes, and appearances from XI (as we already have that with Azaldaal's Legacy and Eureka). The crossover events were specific that cross-dimensional travel is extremely difficult (I mean, Iroha is now stuck here in Hydaelyn for one), so I doubt we're going to Vana'diel itself (presented in FFXIV's engine). Probably there's some area in Tural that resembles part of the Middle Lands/nations of the Alliance of Altana and the usual shennigans happen. That's the big question in my mind right now as well. The two XI crossover events already established that travel between the universes is canonically possible and was even referenced in XI, and we have a character from there currently stranded on the Source. So will we be traveling somehow TO XI's Vana'diel or will be getting a XIV version similar to how they retooled Ivalice, the answers can't come soon enough
Intriguing either way.![]()

Let's have it be like I've heard FF11 is. We get to use a couple of attacks that have an hour long cooldown, then we just sit there for a long time waiting for them to come back up. There is a boat we have to take but it takes 30 minutes of real time to travel, and if we don't get to it before it leaves we have to wait an hour for it to come back.
I know so little about XI, always wanted to try it, but feared it would consume me so I stayed away... for now. Love the overall vibe of it though. Looking forward to the glams and more bops from Soken.
I love FFXI so many memories. It has to be hands down the best MMO I have ever played. I go back here and there to explore the world.
I would love a Maat fight and would love to see Luzaf <3 I hope we get music and also some of the amazing gear XI has.
I suspect: Shikaree X Y Z, tenzen, promethia, ark angels, zilart pair, and lilth as bosses. We have had two cross over evens that have shantoto and rhapsodies npcs so i suspect them to be part of the story. The zones will be tu’lia and al’taiu for sure.
My money's on Vana'diel being one of the 14 shards. I'm sure they can crowbar that in with the original story. Multiverses already exist in Vana'diel anyway.
All the shards have to have the same geography by the nature of how it all works and Vana'diel has its own separate gods and fully fleshed out origins so I feel like that would just cheapen FFXI's story if that were the case.
Also kind of cheapens XIV's. Instead of crafting a shard that homages XI but makes it XIV's own version, it feels cheap if they just shove XI as-is into a XIV shard.
^This. Also they stated long ago that the Shards are not other FF worlds literally:
)Having said that, they do still pull or reference names and places from them (like Mount Gulg from FFI in the First or Baron and Troia from FFIV in the Thirteenth), so that is possible there are FFXI references on the other Shards too. We'll find out though.Originally Posted by Gildrien

Q: A lot of names from Ivalice have been mentioned such as Dalmasca, Belias, and Zodiak. Is there some kind of connection between Hydaelyn and Ivalice?
A: Maehiro: To be absolutely clear, there is no direct connection between FFXIV’s Hydaelyn and FFXII’s Ivalice or even FFXI’s Vana’diel. They are not the same world in different dimensions or time—they are their own separate worlds. However, there are certain connections to people or objects that appear in these other worlds that figure into the story of FFXIV as it has been conceived and is being told.
Yoshida: We’ll be revealing more as we move forward.
