Echoes of Vana'diel FFXI Alliance Raid

I hope all the gear is just FFXI gear, gimme a dalmatica and a blurple Adaman Hauberk. And I hope we get a Distant Worlds orchestrion roll.

I wonder what they'll do for the fights, they already used Absolute Virtue which would be the most obvious choice. Maybe one of the fights will be in Dragon's Aery and you'll have to stand there waiting around for Fafhogg to pop.

I am so hyped for this, I can't wait! I like seeing the Tavnazia land bridge in the back there as I can see them easily fitting an overgrown lost-to-time version of Tavnazia into the world of XIV. As for bosses, whatever hasn't been already pushed into Baldesion Arsenal. I suppose Shadowlord is a guarantee but after that it's up in the air. I hope we get to see Yagudo, Orcs, and Quadav just like we got to see Seeq and Bangaa in the Ivalice storyline/fights.

If I had to hazard a guess I could see them using bosses from Adoulin as the earlier ones with big ticket names being each tier's final boss. And as for gear! I would love for some job AF gear to be thrown in since really they can fit multiple jobs' (with some exceptions) styles. But for "generic" gear I need more of the level 70~ crafted JSE sets to come back. The small drip we got of that back in ARR wasn't nearly enough and too many of XI's gear designs would fit perfectly in XIV and deserve to come back

It would be really neat if they added an emote of Aldo squinting and holding Tavnazia in his fingers. It would bring the series full circle since that was the very first moment of FFXI.

And I know we're not going to get it, but FFXI racial gear including one for Roegadyn that includes a tail would be fun.

ANY gear from XI would be awesome. That game had some of the best designs in the series.
Personally I would like maybe a different artifact gear for each stage per role. Like say, for the tank roles:
First raid drops Paladin AF
Second raid drops Warrior AF
Third raid drops Rune Fencer AF (this fits both DRK and GNB)

And so on for every role

I can't wait to see what areas from ff11 they do and what music they would bring in and there are so much good gear they could bring in.

I hope the new Alliance raid series will follow in the footsteps of the Ivalice raid series, in which it actually contributes lore and world-building to the world of XIV rather than being another Nier-like raid series that doesn't make any sense nor adds anything lorewise and exists solely for the hype and 2B leggings.

That's the big question in my mind right now as well. The two XI crossover events already established that travel between the universes is canonically possible and was even referenced in XI, and we have a character from there currently stranded on the Source. So will we be traveling somehow TO XI's Vana'diel or will be getting a XIV version similar to how they retooled Ivalice, the answers can't come soon enough.

edit: and they've already said the shards aren't other FF worlds so hopefully they don't backpedal on that.

That's my worry when they say "Get a glimpse into the expansive world of FFXI that has celebrated over two decades of adventure!" I'm not interested in just going to Vana'diel somehow. I want to see world-building for XIV as well like you said. It still sucks to think of the First lore we lost out on because of the Nier raids.

As others have said, what worries me is that this will be another raid with no context or understanding for people that don't know FFXI. I WANT to understand the story! I don't want to have to play other games to do so. If it's just another fanservice for other games series, it'll just be another raid I don't want to unlock.
