Request: Bring back the combined subscription for FFXI and FFXIV

With the announcement of the FFXI themed alliance raid coming in Dawntrail at the London Fanfest, I expected also an announcement of the return of the shared sub for both of the Final Fantasy MMOs that was offered during 1.0.

The separate sub for the game has been one of the reasons why I have not given FFXI a try yet and with how few people shouted from the crowd at Fanfest that they'd played XI I think it'd be a great way to get more people and revenue into that game as well.

The FFXI developers have already expressed their interest in bringing the shared sub back in their Reddit AMA last year (link below, 6th question)

which is why I'm posting this on the official FFXIV forums to try and get the development team on board! Maybe the FFXI-included sub could have a few dollars/euros/equilevant currency worth of upcharge or bundle it with the Standard subscription.

I have to agree the new ally raid is currently the best opportunity to bring forth any shared subscription with FFXI as players who haven't played it yet might be curious to try it out themselves following the release of the first ally raid in the new series, while the old players who have experienced FFXI before might feel more nostalgic to play it again. Personally, I'd like to have a shared subscription because many times I feel like I want to chill out in there but I don't want to spend too much on games as I have other priorities in real life, so a shared subscription would be excellent and beneficial to everyone.

This Fanfest would have been the perfect time to announce a shared sub to get people interested in XI lore before the raid series, and something more to do during content droughts.

I'm glad there doing a ff11 alliance raid collab and was hoping they would do something ff11 themed for it since the NA fanfest. I really hope they do a combined sub for 11 and 14 as well.

I get that some finance guys in SE are thinking "Why would we do that? We'll lose money", but they can't see that it could:

- increase interest in FFXI, which could increase the profits for FFXI.
- Bringing in players that see the value in two mmos with a huge amount of content for one sub.
- players that get tired of one game and would normally stop subbing would simply keep their up sub and play the other game for a month or two. (I'm in this group)

I would love to have more players come into ff11 especially if they could get a combined discount sub for both. I'm sure they wouldn't lose too much money on it considering ff11 only makes a little over a million dollars a year when not counting the extra mog wardrobes people pay monthly for.

I'm going a bit on a tangent here, but I think FF11 subscription needs to be updated in general.

I just checked, but I can only buy a subscription for 30 days, which costs me €12.95.

For FF14, I have two options for a 30-day subscription:
Entry - €10.99
Standard -€12.99

And for the 180 Days option, Standard sub drops to €10.99 per month.

Basically FF 14 subscription is cheaper for me than FF11 which seems backwards. But then again, I don't have access to all payment options, maybe someone can correct me on that.

But yeah, I do like the idea of a shared subscription, I do want to play FF 11 for the Story and old school feeling, it's the only mainline game I didn't play yet.

With how successful it's been over on 'the other MMO's old version', and on Oldschool Runescape, I wonder how well/badly a 'hardcore/death=delete' mode would go on FF11, who'd even make it to level 10

I'd second this. I never played FFXI back when it was new, and part of me has always wanted to give it a try, but it seems dated and I'm not entirely sure if I'd enjoy it. If there was a shared sub, I would definitely give it a shot. (Yes, there is an FFXI free trial, but it seems to only be for 14 days and I don't have much playtime, so while I might decide immediately that the game isn't for me, that just wouldn't be nearly enough time for me to decide the game is worth it for me to sub.)
