DC travel effectively killed my FC. All the people who run content in PF just go to Aether and chill by themselves, all the people who have statics go to whatever DC their static is on, and all the casual players who run roulettes stay home and don't have the majority of us to party up with anymore. We used to have more banter and jokes in FC chat, which would lead to more chatting and people getting together to run content, but now it's become relatively empty. It's really sad.
DC travel and the ability to do content on other dc's is the culprit. All they could do to really fix it is suspend DC travel or disable doing content on another DC. This would sick for dynamis ppl
I mean, we didn't ask for literally everyone to come to us, this wasn't our fault. It's not our fault people had a certain expectation of us and then flocked to us for running content. I don't like it either because people come here and expect us to be amazing and then complain if there's wipes and say stuff like "I thought this was the raiding data center".
yea last night on crystal PF consisted of 100 different Pfs for venues out of 119 total in the party finder. XD it kind of sucks right now with DF. I see myself on Aether more and more and I will probably ending up moving back there. LIke I like when stuff happens on crystal but its not happening lately I get the concept, but they should have worked on making roulette and PF region wide first.
Woa people leaving DC coz DC sucks, maybe instead of disabling DC travel (coz next you gonna ask for disabling transfers), we just disable outdated DC thing itself? And make only one DC for each region? And allow players to use crossregion PF and DF? Coz maybe some of them playing on weird timezones.DC travel effectively killed my FC. Disabling Datacenter hops will only force players to drop the game or pay for transfer.
The real question with that is, what could possibly go wrong? I mean that sincerely and not sarcastically. I don't think many people expected this to be the consequences of DC travel; so what other unforseen consequences could these solutions bring?
You know that there used to be zero DC or world travel at all, right? And the game existed quite comfortably. Servers actually had some semblance of community and identity to them, and PF was able to function properly instead of being overcrowded or a wasteland depending on the DC you were in.Woa people leaving DC coz DC sucks, maybe instead of disabling DC travel (coz next you gonna ask for disabling transfers), we just disable outdated DC thing itself? DC Travel did solve a problem that SE created.
Many years ago now, SE did a "Data Center" split. Many people on Crystal were faced with a choice: leave their friends behind on Crystal for the "raid DC" Aether, or stay on Crystal and struggle with the smaller raid community. Their friends got split apart and if they did not have contact with them any other way, then that was the end of their relationship unless they made an alt (which many people did). They also had to part ways with their FC. This destroyed some people's friend circles or FCs to such a point, that they were sad or quit.
But SE hadn't stopped working to try and solve this problem and now it is solved. If those players return to the game, they can contact the players they lost contact with via DC travel, without being forced into playing an alt they don't care about.
It has just had some downsides to it as well, in the area of high-end content.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

They did mention it. For some reason, they thought it was only a problem affecting players on the JP data centers. Hopefully the howl of disbelief coming from NA/EU players got through to them.Agreed this is what I believed would happen as well, I just wish SE would say something regarding the PF issue. Even something as simple as "we are going to address this at a future point" would suffice for me. I am aware however, that , that is a bit unrealistic.
At the time, YoshiP said that he wasn't certain what they could do to fix the problem other than shut down data center travel. They are trying to think of better solutions than that.
