Making new thread about weird widescreen effect PLEASE HELP

A couple months ago the settings for my cutscenes got changed and I don't know how to fix them.

    My default res is 1980x1200
I got the same 16:10 monitor...

Yet now cutscenes are cutoff at the bottom and the top with black bars. Like a "Cinematic widescreen"

My regular gameplay is full screen but not cutscenes So I just want my stuff fixed so it goes back to normal.

Linked is a screenshot of a cutscene 2 months ago to now:

Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters?

    one (I don't have multiple)

Does this occur with all cutscenes or specific ones?

    All

Are you running any additional programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?

    No

Were any other major update or changes made to the PC at the time this issue started to occur?

    No

Might want to disable OneDrive since it says that is where your /Documents folder is located.

Should be on your PC /username/Documents/ since that is where the client stores the files for characters and settings.

It did not work but thanks for replying

I honestly have no clue what has caused it just sorta happened one night and now it's been like this for months. It's so immersion breaking and like my resolution settings are all set to fit my screen. I even thought maybe it had something to do with my scale and layout settings.

It's not as though I have an unorthodox weird-shaped screen either. Just a normal little laptop and it never had this issue before it suddenly happened.

    Greetings Adventurer!

We would like to assist with your concern. Please try the following to see if they help:

    - Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (It seems some drivers may be out of date).
    - Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup.
    - Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
    - Disable Full Screen Optimizations. To disable this, please find the "ffxiv_dx11.exe" and right click it and select properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.

It also seems that you are using multiple graphics cards on this system. We would suggest that you go in-game and try to change these to see if it helps with the problem you are experiencing. Go to the main menu and search for "System Configuration". In the display settings, you will see an option for 'Main Display' and there should be a drop down for the graphics cards. Please switch the graphics cards to see if this helps with the issue you are experiencing.

If you do not see an improvement, please feel free to respond to this thread for further troubleshooting.

Thank you for contacting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Ah yes, as pointed out by Yarxideyn, you are using two different graphics cards.

You need to check in: System Configuration > Display > check here it should say NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti Laptop... etc, make sure it isn't: AMD Radeon Graphics, as that is the inbuilt CPU graphics and likely the cause of your issue.

If it says "DISPLAY1.NIVIDIA..." then its using the correct GPU, I would then check the resolution mode in the same tab, make sure its set to Fullscreen and not Borderless window or Window.

I would double check the Windows setting as well, click on the Nvidia icon in the Taskbar by clicking the ^ icon, open the Nvidia app and select Manage 3D, then click the blue link "Windows graphics settings" and add FFXIV to the list if it doesn't automatically show by "custom options for apps > browse > find the ffxivboot.exe", once it is the list click it and set it to use the Nvidia GPU.
Next go back to the Nvidia app where the blue link is to windows settings, and click the tab "Program settings" then in the newly opened tab of options, select "select program" and find ffxivboot.exe, add it, the option below "2. Select preferred graphics processor for this program" make sure it is Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti and save by clicking Apply.

    Then login and test.

Well gentle people I have done all the ascribed directions.

I updated and reinstalled new drivers. (both nvidia and AMD just in case)
I made sure to disable my discord overlay
I made sure my Windows OS was fully updated.
I made sure full screen optimizations were disabled even double checking to make sure I clicked "apply" then okay

System configuration and display has NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti Laptop etc and not AMD.
I did the nvidiacontrol panel stuff made sure to do ffxivboot.exe (I tried all three options available to me to no avail)
I also made sure to temporarily disable onedrive so no funny business would occur.

here's new screenshots as well as an update on my info.

My dear friends I figured it out. I changed my in game resolution to 1900x1080 instead of 1900x1200.

Even though my recommend display resolution is 1900x1200 for my laptops monitor 1900x1080 makes the cutscenes full screen :/

I do apologize for the inconvenience THOUGH I suppose in future if someone needs to know the honest truth of fixing this situation try setting your resolution down one. That's what worked for me.
