Post Button to hide aetherotransformer/seathes/quiver, etc.

Why do machinist need to carry the same ugly ass aetherotransformer everywhere? It ruins most glams, it ruins the weapon theme and it looks really bad in general.

Same with Samurai, 70% of the sheathes are quite ugly, why can't we hide them? I don't see an issue taking into account we can hide the whole weapon and bring it out of nothingness to begin with.

It can't be that hard to implement and I think it'd be a nice QoL addition that would benefit mostly all of the playerbase.

    One word: lore.

The aetherotransformer is what actually gives you your bullets, as well as powering many of your abilities (it's where your automata come from for one). You're not a gunslinger or musketeer, you're a gun-wielding mechanic that fires aether bullets made from your own life force via the aetherotransformer.

Likewise the katana's sheathe is part of the lore (as it was in reality - Japan is iron poor so what little iron they could find was precious and... basically scrap, mostly brought into the country from China and other places via the Silk Road). Hence why katana and other weapons were so thin, it was by sheer necessesity, so the slightest shock could litereally shatter the blade, and thus the reason for the ronin code of honour about a weapon being broken being extremly dishonourable). So it is the same here, the sheathe is used as part of the animation of using their weapon.

It just so happens that the development team take the lore very seriously and it forms the basic theme of each class and how they use their weapon or tool and the abilities they make use of. This does make it rather rigid though, but, that's the price that is paid for having a consistant story. Accordingly I do not see SE changing this.

But..... we can glam our clothes to be invisible. You can glam a shield and monk weapons to be invisible. So... why can't we glam that?

Samurai animations are inspired by iaijutsu, which is explicitly about quick draws. It wouldn't make sense without the sheath to actually draw from.

Bards also have a number of their animations showing them actually reaching for arrows. (That their quivers are effectively bottomless is a game mechanic, not anything lore related. And having come from games that actually made you carry stacks of ammo around, I'm not complaining.)

Wouldn't mind hiding the lunch box, though. At least quivers match the bow. The box dyes when you dye the gun, but otherwise it's always the same, and clashes pretty badly with most glam.

To be fair, Paladin lets you glam your shield invisible but then all your shield animations are just your arm, including things like "Shield Lob" and "Shield Bash". An option to make Samurai sheathe or Bard quiver invisible doesn't seem like that much further of a jump in not making sense.

You can also make your weapon invisible until you draw it, which isn't with the help of a "glamour" prism. What's that lore reason?

Yeah, basically. I agree with you.

For MightyMollusk comment, I don't think "lore" or "realism" are arguments that are too solid. It's been many times that I've liked a katana but the sheathe ruins it completely. Would the animations feel weird? Yeah, as they do using Paladin without a shield, using some weird weapons or tanking a level 90 raid while being completely naked.

And well, while the quivers are a lot more unnecessary because they match usually the weapon quite well, but if we are gonna get the option to remove the weapon props we'll rather have the option to remove them all, not just some jobs I guess. Same with RDM.

Because unlike the shield they are not considered seperate from your weapon. They would have to go through every rdm, brd, and mch weapons and seperate those items and remake them as one off hand and one main hand (nin as well) and theyre not going to do it. Starting with brd/archer at level 1 to and then mch with lvl 30 and etc including all crafted weapons.

Or they could implement something like how they did the /visor functionality, where it is a toggle that hides a part of gear without it being two separate pieces. I don't think they would "have to" fundamentally change how the actual weapons are as items.

They would still have to go in and fundamentally change ALL those weapons for a toggle option... how many helmets are there that you are able to toggle versus how many weapons there are for 5 maybe 6 jobs?

Heres an example of how many bard weapons there are
