Not everyone is meant to get a large house.

It really is that simple.

I know yall hate that fact but it's the truth.

Why not, though? What's the reason people shouldn't be able to get exactly the house size they want if they have the gil for it? A new player who manages to save up gil for a Large shouldn't be punished for being new and all the Large plots being taken by vets. I'm perfectly happy with my Small in Ishgard but if someone is a decoration enthusiast, I can't see a good reason to gatekeep mansions.

The biggest gaffe is that the housing system wasn't designed for any sort of longevity. If it was, all lots would basically be large size lots, and you could essentially buy the size house you want, and upgrade later without having to leave that lot. Sure, some lots might be more appealing that others, but being able to just upgrade your house would have gone a long way.

Loads of sprouts have larges too. It's not exclusive to the veteran players.

It was designed for longevity.

What it wasn't designed for is personal ownership and NA player housing preferences. Modern NA homebuilding tends to be huge and so that's what NA players want to see. In many other parts of the world, including JP, houses are more modest in size and so a mansion isn't necessarily the automatic plot preference.

Honestly I finally got my medium after living in a small for 2 years - so seeing people say "medium or nothing" frankly reeks of entitlement to me.

I won a Mist 29 plot after living in an Empyreum 3 plot for majority of the expansion.

Not the best plot in Mist but the view is still insanely good.



I bid every single week for almost a year on larger houses and kept losing every single week.

I tried for Mediums and Larges, my most gutted loss was a Shirogane Large, I was #3 and #2 won..


I got lucky a few weeks ago and won.

My wife won a small during the last lotto. Plot is not a sought after one, but its in the same ward as my personal. So she is happy and has no issue ignoring the lack of view.

Well you get a fair chance on the not so populated servers, I really give little about people complaining about these things on servers that is so extremely full because SE out of good heart allowed to many people join these servers, and then complain about everything, if a house is this important to you, any size, go to a world where you will be able to achieve your dreams.

Could always come to Dynamis. There's a Shiro large on my main world that only has 50 bids, while the other larges have under 20.

I know this isn't a long term solution, and that we really do need something along the lines of instanced housing or the ability to build up apartments/IS into something better, but I can't disagree with the people that bring up that others aren't willing to do what it takes to improve their odds.
