They way this mirage thing was commented on, it didn't sound to me like they are planning to overhaul housing interiors.
After seeing a different translation of those comments, where what was originally called “mirage” was translated as “glamour,” I’m thinking you both may be right… either the ability to change the interior style, be that switching neighborhood themes for pillars, or just a “plain” layout that straight up removes them altogether. And that’s still an improvement, for anyone that’s using multiple partitions to cover up the walls and pillars.

I mean, technically the insides are instanced, so being able to have any size interior for any size exterior is something that’s totally possible, and wouldn’t involve anything new with regards to how the existing interiors act, beyond creating a UI panel of some sort to select the interior size. But you’re right that moving staircases and such is probably not where they’re going with it, as much as I’d like not only that option, but more custom interior layouts in general. At this point I’m just hoping personals someday get the ability to add on apartment sized rooms like FC houses do.

Lol ONLY 177? That's nothing. Excalibur currently has a Large with 421 bids. Medium homes can easily have over 100 bids. It's truly miserable trying to bid on anything beyond a Small without just moving to a dead server.

Thank the players who wanted to give everyone a equal opportunity and accessibility. Everyone has a equal chance now. Far lower then its ever been in a previous system, but its the equal opportunity they wanted!

I preferred the first come first serve. But people have lives and cant be expected to get lucky and find a plot, so now they are reliant on luck even more then ever against a much bigger pool of players they themselves unknowingly asked to compete against.

Personally I still prefer the lottery, but neither method is ideal or will make everyone happy. I just thought it was funny when 177 was considered a lot of bids on a Large lol. I see that nearly every round on my server, even on Mediums.

The more frustrating part to me is that the server and DC (Primal) feel dead, partly because of DC travel, yet all of the houses are still highly contended, and we often have very few plots open for bidding. I know we are between expansions and in a content lull, but I've been around since 1.0 and to me it has felt extra dead lately. I've considered moving to Dynamis for at least a better chance at a M or L home, but it feels even more desolate over there. So I'll just continue living in a sea of 100+ bids until I maybe get lucky.

If people want to gamble a 0.5% chance to win a large plot of their choosing knowing their odds are slim. They forfeit their right to complain when they lose.

Ward Housing is a limited supply thing. Apts were added due to players being locked out of housing entirely if they didn't have a plot. I think improvements could be done to the apartment. But again anything that puts apartments on par with Smalls is going to be a problem. Because now you have a system that is uncoupled from an active subscription, that devalues your small plots while giving a bigger incentive for players to ditch ward small as a whole in favor of a small plot sized apartment without a demo timer attached, Thanavarion Onion be damned is just straight up better as a value proposition. But I'm aware that's not going to happen because the money they make on people who keeps their subscriptions active to keep their house is beneficial for them.

    That's insane. 421 bids just proves there's a problem.

Think about it mathematically for just a moment. On an active server there are large plots available maybe 2 times a month. There's always around 50 bidders on each plot, at least, even on the lucky entry periods when multiple large ones open at once. So generously on average it's going to take 2 years to get a mansion, with pure RNG. That could easily rise to +5 years depending on server activity and luck.

You can go on about "it's supposed to be difficult, not everyone has to have a mansion", but do you seriously believe someone having to wait more than half the game's current lifecycle just because of bad RNG is really reasonable?

It's not reasonable and that's the point. If it takes X # of years to get X house then people who own those houses won't unsub because they will never be able to get X house again in a reasonable amount of time. It's a completely POS way to run a game but it guarantees subs. If housing were too easy to acquire, people would unsub when they want to stop playing for a bit because they would be able to jump back in and get a house whenever they want. Think about it mathematically for just a moment.

Weird jab that makes it sound like any of what you said is a good thing.

Good thing for the players? Absolutely not. Good thing for SE? 100%. Guaranteed and continual income is a huge deal.
