Loads of sprouts have larges too. It's not exclusive to the veteran players. Why not, though? What's the reason people shouldn't be able to get exactly the house size they want if they have the gil for it? A new player who manages to save up gil for a Large shouldn't be punished for being new and all the Large plots being taken by vets. I'm perfectly happy with my Small in Ishgard but if someone is a decoration enthusiast, I can't see a good reason to gatekeep mansions.
Because subs tend to cause a gross inflation of gil.
Stormy wants to feel special by being a haves in a world of have-nots.Why not, though? What's the reason people shouldn't be able to get exactly the house size they want if they have the gil for it? Pretty much. They've even admitted in a thread a few months back that they have a spreadsheet they use to keep track of when they last entered each of their houses so they can avoid demolition. If they were using the houses at all, they wouldn't need the spreadsheet.
On the other hand, Stormpeaks openly acknowledging such things becomes a good example of what is wrong with the system. In the end, the blame lies with SE for the current housing design. Sometimes it takes players like Stormpeaks abusing what the system intentionally allows before developers will change the system.
For now, they get away with it because it seems like most of the abuse happens on the NA/EU worlds where housing is difficult to get in the first place. While it also happens on the JP worlds, the impact is smaller because their overall populations are much smaller than on the NA/EU worlds. If housing problem for JP was as bad as it's been for the NA/EU worlds, SE probably would have taken more constructive action already.

I was on EU on the most empty worlds, and I am now on Dynamis
please get your facts straight
And yes I do use a spreadsheet, so? What's your point ?
I just have a terrible memory and I'd rather use a spreadsheet to keep track of timers (submarines especially), it aint that deep.
Dude literally just made an account to have a go at me and rage and boohoo about multiowners while being on Dynamis himself which is absolute housing galore with thousands houses across the board
peak comedy really

Supposedly they're working on a new system ("Housing Mirage") that would allow players to select the size of their house interior if they get it to work. That would help make the small plots more desirable if it happens.
Source is the live patch note reading for 6.5 but it's JP language only - the information was being shared by a few unofficial translations. Perhaps they'll share more info (or at least confirm what was said) at the EU FanFest this weekend.

Do you happen to have a source for this? I see nothing on Google anywhere.Supposedly they're working on a new system ("Housing Mirage") that would allow players to select the size of their house interior if they get it to work. That would help make the small plots more desirable if it happens.

Get Google Translate on hand unless you can understand Japanese
That would awesome if they pulled it off. Got my medium right before EW, always felt it would be enough room. Have realized now that I could use the larger interior. But not going to chase a large house for it though. So if I can just upgrade interior size that would be great.
I just got my Medium 3 days ago after trying for nearly a year.
I was in an Empyreum Small ever since the first lottery of Endwalker.

Honestly I finally got my medium after living in a small for 2 years - so seeing people say "medium or nothing" frankly reeks of entitlement to me.http://blog.livedoor.jp/umadori0726/.../60881473.html

Congratulations on winning a medium!
I won a Mist 29 plot after living in an Empyreum 3 plot for majority of the expansion.
Not the best plot in Mist but the view is still insanely good.
I bid every single week for almost a year on larger houses and kept losing every single week.
I tried for Mediums and Larges, my most gutted loss was a Shirogane Large, I was #3 and #2 won..
I got lucky a few weeks ago and won.
