    Please make getting gear faster in Dawntrail

    In DT we will have 21 jobs spread across 7 gear types. Gearing is just too slow to support this. It currently, at absolute best, takes around two months to get BiS on one job. It can take as long as a few months. This is too slow. There is no reason to not radically increase how fast I can gear alt jobs in DT. Faster gearing means I have more stuff to do and can enjoy more jobs more quickly. It also means balance isn't as big a deal bc if balance is off and you have to switch jobs it doesn't take as long to catch your gear up.

    I don't care how they do it. I don't care if they double the tomestone cap and/or cut the cost of tome gear in half. I don't care if I can get two items from each savage fight a week. I don't care if they add a way to upgrade dungeon gear. I don't care if they let me upgrade normal raid gear. I don't care if FATEs reward a gearset each patch. I don't care if alliance raid gear rewards savage equivalent and has a more generous loot lockout. I don't care how it's done, I just want to gear alts faster and with 21 jobs there's no reason not to.

    This is a lost cause because unless you raid, people dont care or want gear rewards from other content because it might hurt their precious lv.1 glam sets. You can see this happening on the PvP gear thread I started with some people arguing me against it.

    Anyway I do support this idea. They need to allow having more avenues for getting alt equipment for endgame. This game has a lot of almost dead old content and they have yet thought about bringing some relevancy to it by rewarding endgame gear? Such a shame.

    The amount of time it takes to gear has not changed, because the range of gear choices has not changed. We have had these types of gear since ARR:
    • DRG (and now RPR)
    • MNK (and now SAM)
    • NIN (and soon our pirate job)
    • BRD (and now MCH and DNC)
    • BLM, SMN (and now RDM, BLU and another caster soon)
    • PLD, WAR (and now DRK and GNB)
    • WHM, SCH (and now AST and SGE)
    With the exception of their weapons and the rare cases where the BiS for two jobs that use the same type of gear is different, but in most cases whatever has crit, DH and det is going to work for them all.

    So, it is fair to say that gearing alt jobs should be faster, but the argument of there being 21 jobs compared to the 10 in ARR doesn't really add to the point beside the weapons, and they could solve the weapons issue another way (such as making relic weapons actually BiS throughout the expansion).

    Hmm... did we actually get scouting back in ARR and not in HW since NIN wasn't in game until fairly near the end of the ARR cycle? I know they at least initially just added Dex to MNK's striking gear and let NIN use it.

    Ninja was in post-ARR yes. More specifically patch 2.4

    Rare cases? No 2 DPS jobs use the same gear even within their own role. Ever. Ninja still has to get aiming right side for some reason preventing them from swapping during early prog to other melee dps without starting fresh on gear. Tome weapons are 7 weeks each. Sure you can get the weapons faster if you raid but wait, you can't because your entire team needs them too and it's one drop per week so your still waiting 8 weeks in Savage.

    It is absolutely ridiculous that people still defend this. There is no excuse for the 24man gear that comes out 3 months after savage to be 10ilvl lower AND weekly locked. Either it's 10ilvl lower with no lock or it's 10ilvl higher with a lockout. They need to pick one.

    If you are Johnny 1 job then of course you're gonna say it's fast to gear. When you play several jobs and roles it's an absolute nightmare. You can't even get a single piece of left side Tome gear a week with the 450 lockout. If you wanna play other jobs at a decent pace you're pretty much forced into using alts.

    Are you sure about that?

    SMN and RDM use identical body and accessories, down to the melds, with SMN being able to slip a SpS into their weapon and swap food if they want to go at 2.46s GCD for more consistency in fitting the extra GCD in Bahamut/Phoenix.

    All 3 phys ranged use identical gear, BRD and DNC just put a singular SkS materia on their weapon with BRD using a +SkS food to each hit their desired GCDs. And NIN does use the exact same accessories as the ranged phys in their BiS.

    DRG and RPR have identical gearing in all but weapon no matter their targeted GCD among the ideal ones.

    MNK and SAM are the only evidence of this, and even then there's a compatibility set where you swap the hat and food and both jobs are hunky-dory.
