Except players can rapidly outlevel MSQ even if they avoid side content. There are too many forms of bonus XP in the game.

A new player may not realize some of them exist so won't know there are ways to avoid some of them. While there can be side content unlocked during ARR that's a higher level than MSQ, that stops being true once the player reaches level 50 so there's no advantage to outleveling MSQ past that point. They're generally not going to think about leveling a second job to absorb excess XP unless a friend or someone in NN (if they join NN) suggests it. And it's natural for them to want to experience some of the side content as they go through MSQ because everything is new to them.

SE can absolutely fix the problem through game design just as game design allows for the player to outlevel MSQ in the first place. Don't allow jobs more than one level over MSQ to earn XP. If someone feels bad about XP "going to waste", it encourages them to level other jobs.

It fixes this Wondrous Tails problem. It would also fix the new Alliance roulette ilvl problem.
