Wait. It was like waiting around trying to pop an S rank if only the group that spawned S ranks got any rewards from an S rank ... Oh Twelve. Someone pass me the cerebral terebinth, the mental image of the game if that was the case is too ugly ...
In any case, enough that you could practically preface a guide for first time house hopefuls with "1. Ask your stockbroker or financial planner about shares in LOGI." LOL
Ehhh. I feel like the opposite is the case regarding the lotto, honestly.
Do you really prefer the days when your chance of getting a house or not more or less 95% hinged on being able to get up at 5AM ... wait, no, remember to get up at 4AM to make sure you have time to install the patch!! ... and then the also very much a lottery RNG on what queue spot you were given?
And since housing usually dropped on major patches, make that also "have to compete with the people trying to rush to get in for the raid/EX trial before they miss out on the best PF opportunities" (and Twelve help you if it was an even patch, then you had all the omni's trying to rush in to cash in while the week one statics were still buying gear) clogging that server queue as well.
And the chance that you would get punted instead of admitted, find yourself back at the end of the line and welp, in the immortal words of Peanuts, "FORGET IT KID!"
Lottery makes new wards a LOT more chill and less stressful. Most of the time you won't even compete with raiders or crafters for the queue, because new ward plots can't be entered for until the beginning of the next complete entry period after drop. It also incentivizes people to politely split the odds (except for the most wanted plots like mansions, most people realized it was not only polite but practical to look for one that still had no entries if possible before competing with someone else's entry ... meanwhile, with the old FFA system, you mostly couldn't afford to be nice to others, there was just no time).
Wouldn't FFA new wards + lotteried released plots give us the worst of both worlds then?
