I think balance is solidly decent. Some jobs feel overly strong and some other underwhelming, but I do feel it's mostly tied to how they do fare overall across all skill levels: for instance, DRG is considered borderline OP for the simple reason that being a melee DPS it relies a lot less on the team than most other 'roles', can carry at any level with a game changing LB, and an very strong burst. On the other hand you have SAM, that while being a melee DPS and having a kit to work well on its own, also has a a very specific skillset that outperforms at low level and can underperform or be clunky at higher level (but not everybody agrees on that tbh).

More obvious examples are DNC, or SCH, that almost completely rely on their team to perform well. PLD is also a job that relies a lot on its team.

And that's without talking about LP (light parties) with premades and tournaments, where the meta is partially or completely different. Jobs that rely a decent amount on the team like Ninja or Bard are suddenly shining here, while some staples like DRG or WHM are seen absolutely everywhere.
