Suggestion to the developers before the release of Dawntrail

Hi everyone!
I've been playing FFXIV for almost two and a half years now, I love the game and I have been enjoying playing from time to time between patches and sometimes just log in and walk around doing random things from duty roulette to crafting to weekly's and all of that.

An idea came to my head that since I am a bit more of a solo player it would be cool if I could just walk up to Thancred, Alphinaud, Alisaie, and kind of let hthem tag along with me in my party and we could go from aetheryte to another, city to another and just tag along with me adventuring anywhere. They could help me in battle, then go in a dungeon with me, tag along while I am gathering. To summarize it would be pretty cool if we could just have them walk and tag along with us instead of going solo.

I would love to hear everybody's thought about it so do let me know

Interesting thought but, as far i know, the pre-production has begun even before the release of the expac and after the release is normally a break and shortly after full on production. This means this thread is not for Dawntrail, its for the follow xpac after DT. But i like the idea.

That's more like what the trust system in FFXI is, you basically summon clones of NPCs that follow you around and fight with you. But FFXI has an entire world that was meant to be experienced in a party and not solo, so it makes more sense there. They'd need to invent a reason to not be alone gameplay-wise for FFXIV, which is the opposite of the direction the game has been going in becoming more solo-friendly lately.

No it's fine. My understanding from 10 years of listening and reading what they say, they begin production right after the .3 patch. Before that it's just planning and ideas. Around the .4 patch we start to get fanfest where they reveal what they've done so far and concept art for what they haven't done.

They have actually made a lot more progress this time than they had at the first fanfest in prior expansions, because they were able to show us screenshots of a lot of zones, whereas in Shadowbringers for example a lot of it was just concept art at that time.

But as there is still about 8 months most likely, there is probably still time for them to make some major changes but that will be running out. I remember the media tour version of the game that content creators get to play is from 4 months prior (so 5 months prior to the release of the expansion), so the time for suggestions is certainly getting close to running out.

Not that suggestions matter in the English forum. They are in Japan and speak Japanese.

They do already do this for quests, so it is certainly possible. It would also be interesting to implement ChatGPT so you can talk to them and get responses in-character. But most likely SE will be late to the party with this and do it after every other game has done it already.

I don't want that. I want the writers to have control over the characters and what they say, not outsource their script to an AI.

Oh, I don't mean that the MSQ shouldn't exist. I mean between the MSQ, just less important conversation that uses the current MSQ lore and recent dialogue by the developers as a basis for the AI output, rather than just repeating the same thing for 4 months.

If you only want one of them to wander around with you in a non-combat role, it is certainly doable with the technology now. All they will need to do is create a full size minion that is invisible to others.

i only want daily MSQ GONE or heavily Reworked! like....i truly dont understand why keep pushing the same scenarios over and over and over....unskippable nonetheless ....ugh!
