Actually, I don't hate the mechanic per se, but I do hate the fact that nowadays almost every high end encounter has it. Let this be more of a rare occurrence.

Thinking about high end mechanics on a second thought, I also wish they would give 'Limit Cut' some vacations through Dawntrail.

There's considerably more of them in the present vs. the ARR through SB era and I agree it's rather frustrating when you're essentially required to do every step of a given mechanic correctly to actually see more of a fight because it's impossible to recover if anyone dies at all at specific points.
Fair enough. I don't do much of the higher end stuff that isn't Extremes, and even then I'm trying to get back into on-patch Extremes, but haven't had the motivation to do that recently. So the only ones that came to mind were the ones you see in roulettes that have the markers like that(guess Omega Shiva also has Light Rampant, and WoL has the meteors that need people to light up the pads...but that appears not to be what was originally meant).

Two kinds of bs mech in my book:
    1. Tether passing & tether breaking. For the love of Mother Nymeia, let me pass/break the tether in one go gdi.
    2. Half cleaves after half cleaves being disguised with visual overload.

As far other Players see a Reaper casting that stupid LB, they jump all on the Reaper and beat the shit out of him/her, before that Spell can be finished. That LB should be a single Cast Spell and not a double Cast Spell.

    This. And then some.

Y'all know RPR has a 15 yalm dash in PVP it can use to surprise folks with its LB, right? It even lets you escape after if they DO all jump on you.

The only BS mechanics are ones that are unintuitive. Things like either match the colors or balance the colors when it isn't a boss theme or only a vague description in a debuff that doesn't actually explain what it means (Zurvan's implementation sucks, Sephirot and Sophia's are fine). Stuff like Light Rampant where you basically need a visual replay to dissect what actually went wrong because the errors all cascade and the initial one is only vaguely distinct by its exact damage output range in the battle log (seems like the main way they try to make stuff challenging is through obfuscation, lately). Or, stuff that you basically won't learn is wrong on its introduction because the game doesn't give you an opportunity to succeed, like the first boss of Tam-Tara Hard mode.

I think to this day that's the worst designed encounter in terms of being obtuse. But, aiming enemy attacks at others itself is a really fun idea that should be used more often, as long as it's not implemented in a BS way. I think it's showed up a grand total of 2 other times outside of the dungeons that let you position trash in tornadoes or whatever, once in A10s as a necessity and vs Rathalos though that's pretty much a little Easter egg. Maybe Innocence Ex counts, but that's not really another enemy you blow up, just an orb.
