What is the problem with all of that exactly?
I think this is happening on NA servers because on EU we have some few of these ads and they are totally harmless.
Also, I remember I went on a casino before ShB ended with some old friends of mine and we had a good time there. We…I mean I lost a couple of millions but, you know it is how a casino works, still it was a nice “two-nights-break” from savaging.

I really don’t get the issue here, unless a player is bombed with private /tells from randoms advertising their own clubs, in which way are these players affecting others?
Players also can redirect the /shout and the /yell to another tab in their ChatBox to keep everything more clean when they have to step into big cities.

I’m not an RP/ERP and as much as I would like to see more PF for progging/clearing contents I hardly find annoying these PFs clubs/nights/casino and whatsoever.
I think they just give more color to the game which it lacks of it.
It’s an MMO and, beside what are doing the E/RP community (as well as tue modding comm), the game itself doesn’t do much to aggregate and create events where players can hang out together, meet new people and socialising…and maybe this is not a missing part from the game side, rather how it is supposed to be, to let players build their own content in the way they like.

If gambling is something that concerns a player…well gambling exists in real life too, and unless a player is also an activist against this activity who fights night and day to see it got ridden from the world…well, they can go on with their lives and remember that this is a game.

If 18+ rated clubs is something that concerns a player…well 18+ web sites and clubs are a real thing too, and unless they are an activist to persecute morality and decency, fighting night and days to see those got ridden from the world…well they can go in with their lives and remember that even they had had their “funny time” at least once too(if not, it’d explain a couple of things).

    Maybe I’m missing something…

A lot of it is just population volume, I'd imagine. As well as EU having some level of unofficial language segregation, so to speak.

    Allow me to explain.

What many of these complaints are missing is the core root cause of all of this. There's no stopping the socialization in the game, and shout ads (and ads in general) have always been present.

What nobody has mentioned yet is that the increase in prevalence can be tracked to the introduction of World Visit, and later, Data Center travel.

Prior to these features, all ads, and all such events, were largely relegated to a player's own world. You'd see much more of it on populated servers, and you'd see much less on the low-pop servers.

With the travel restrictions lifted, that also opened the floodgates on events and advertising. Players are no longer simply hopping from zone to zone to shout, they will proceed to jump to a new world to repeat, and can even jump data centers for more spread. Depending on your home world, you might not even see any ads for anything on your server, or even on your data center. But you will still see ads, because they can advertise everywhere now.

So, EU gets less of it by having fewer data centers with fewer worlds, and (just guessing here) having more languages spread out, making the world-hopping ads less useful if your audience is largely already congregated in one place.

So if anyone really wants to shut down these venues and events, what they really need to be doing is trying to close down World Visit and Data Center Travel.
(also suggests devs are right to not want to open regional travel and allow this to spread even further... if they ever allow NA/EU cross play, you can bet you'll be seeing more of it)

From the way your describing it it definitely sounds more like an NA issue compared to an EU. Wonder why culturally Eu sounds like they have some decency.
Again, no problem with people doing content they want to do. I want to do content that I can get mad at while progging, frustrated and eventually upon clearing be proud of my accomplishment. While EW hasn't really done much to delivery in that category I know I'm in the minority.
Currently during peak hours, at least on primal you can see about 70+ pfs in the other category. About half or 3/4 of them are going to be duplicates of about the same 10 clubs.
If it was one advertisement for one place at a time, while annoying I would be fine with. It's the spam of it. The spam in pf ontop of the regularly 10 minute shout announcement in major cities for the clubs.

It's just the spam for me tbh. While I personally dislike venues for monetizing roleplay, the spam annoys me a lot more.

It would be a lot cleaner for venues to have their own category so it can be filtered out against the other ads that also take up the "Other" tab, like crafting jobs and item trades.

Regardless of what people think about venues, they're common enough in the game now that it only makes sense to give them their own subcategory within Party Finder.

How many of the venues are actual roleplay as opposed to online socialization using the game's tools? I doubt it's that many. Just because virtual media is being used does not make the interaction any less real than it would be over phones, webcams and other media.

I think some have a blurred idea of what roleplay is as a result of the venues being created within a genre called "role playing game".

How many venues reach that level of success?

Probably not that many, and it's still on the player if they're willing to support the venue's monetization system. Being a virtual currency in an online game, there is no harm done for the majority of individuals. They're simply having fun in an online environment.

For those who are susceptible to the negative effects, such as gambling addiction, they need real life help to develop awareness of those situations and avoid them. It's similar to those with food allergies learning to take extra care when getting food to make certain it doesn't contain whatever they are allergic to.

It's not realistic to try to protect everyone from every little thing that might hurt them.

I'm not here to debate the ethnicity of clubs/venues but rather to create awareness that the harm is the evolution of such behaviors becoming normalized and widespread.

To a normal outside person clubs are just an RP gig. That is what they should be and some are. Others are not. For a while, I even thought about making my own until I shadowed a venue owner and saw what the behind the scenes was really like. This stuff is organized business. Not role playing and I will keep preaching that over and over. The guy I was following around introduced me to a pair of networks and contacts he had for getting his venue moving. Showed me the process behind advertising, who the competition is and how to find them. Staking out their clubs to steal their ideas and promote your own. Choosing the best day to venue. Had an entire spreadsheet for finances of where the money comes and goes, and which employees bring in the most money. One thing I learned is that venue owners love to brag about how much money they make. The entire time I shadowed him, we never did any RPing and all manager related issues were out of character. Infact most people at the club weren't even in-character at all. Especially Twitch chat where the DJ was. It was a community event (nothing wrong with that), disguised as role playing. And let me get something clear, this isn't role play. It's an operation. There is WAY too much OOC guidance and influence for it to ever be any meaningful real RP. (ERP besides). The club was making enough gil each night, the guy could practically RMT it away if he wanted to and I wouldn't be surprised if he did since he was well over gil cap already.

Wither or not any of this is ethical, that's subjective and up to the individual to decide. But it definitely changed my perspective and opinion on venues when you start looking at it from a manager side instead of a customer side. The fact this is such an effective way to profit has likely largely influenced the sheer value and spread of venues popping up and spamming shout chat.
