No need to promote these "venues" anymore. As of writing this I've hit the cap on my blacklist in an attempt to make my pf not just a surge of the same five clubs being advertised ten or twenty times. With the community starting to ask for a cross DC- party finder I feel like this will only get worse with more and more of these "DJ's" seeming to appear left and right. Priot to Covid and the rise of DJ's I honestly didn't mind RP venues, hell even though I never really was interested in them I would at least check them out since them seemed more like the rarity and something to briefly check out and all my experiences before the big C came were rather fun.
I would rather however save my blacklist for players that actually do me harm or grieve me in pf then the annoying buzzing of these scuffed door to door sales man.
By giving them their own tab and maybe altering the pf search features to exclude certain Duties it would give the RP people and afk enjoyers a place to find and the people who are tired of seeing it a way to conserve their blacklist for actual problematic people.
At the current moment of writing this my other section has 12 duties and only 2 of them are visible if that gives an idea.
I always found it amusing that “clubs” are a thing in this game, considering the players that frequent these events wouldn’t be found dead in a club irl
The vast majority of club goers are "roleplaying" as thinly veiled horny self inserts. They're not going to clubs to weave a compelling narrative, they're going there to jerk off.The problem isn't the staff in most cases, but the guests. People who have no idea what they're doing. They do everything that is considered bad practice, can't distinguish between IC and OOC, break character, godmode and straightout R**E a character, or they just walk on you at the slightest inconvenience with some flimsy excuse, and some other things.
And these people are then what is seen as the "RP community".
It's unfortunate their scene has become conflated with real RP but all anyone can do is just be the change you want to see. Support your local venue that hosts actual RP and host your own if possible.
Ha, as someone that used to go to real ones fairly often I had that same thought myself. Although to be fair you could apply that to many things our WoLs do. I wouldn't be caught dead at a shooting range either but I still like playing Machinist.
It's like they think is RP is just a live machinima, if even that. The vast majority of club goers are "roleplaying" as thinly veiled horny self inserts. They're not going to clubs to weave a compelling narrative, they're going there to jerk off.

ITT: People who don't go to venues outright lying about how most venues operate lmao
Nightclubs cannot be outright banned. It's still a private house, and players are free to with it as they please. However, that doesn't mean people can't be banned for violating ToS.

I'm gonna reiterate my previous take, and add to it.
What RP'ers do is their business. I go to venues on occasion, I even picked up my minion collecting obsession from meeting someone at a venue, so it's not like I'm some RP or nightclub 'hater', or some 'delicate flower' in need of protecting.
However, when I'm trying to offer tech advice to someone, or having a healthy conversation with more than 2 participants, having a nightclub ad mid-conversation is a nuisance, especially when that venue will already have an existing PF post, and ESPECIALLY when it's spammed twice in quick succession.
dude seriously I'm in ULDAH and it's like that sometimes. I avoid limsa like a PLAGUE unless i have to hop alot of worlds on the same world.... quicker at that tele by the MB.Good luck convincing any of the fans that constant advertising and spam shouldn't thrive in this game.
THIS is what Final Fantasy XIV has turned into: a Second Life-esque social sim with gameplay relegated to a seasonal mini-game. This is what the people chose. When people think of "FFXIV", this is what will come to mind. And there is no turning back.
