Thats not a role, thats an action/verb.

All other classes are named by their role not what they do in it.

Please change DPS to DD.

2. No one says Damage per Second to refer to a role whose sole purpose is to do damage to the boss. The term is DPS and the sentence; "I am a DPS" makes perfect sense. Just because it is an acronym in certain cases, does not mean it is always classed as an acronym, of which you can determine what is inferred based on the context of the statement made. But on the contrary of DPS, calling a character toon isn't wrong.

Language is an ever changing thing. Some words get picked up in different meanings all the time.
Just because it's an abbreviation doesn't mean it can't be used in another way (nor is it the only abbreviation for DPS).
Plus at this point, you're not fighting only against FFXIV users on this, you're fighting almost all of gaming. All MMOs call them DPS and a whole lot of RPGs do too.
