New island grind

Lol, you say that as if you need to minmax the island. I got to R20 and got every Seafarer's Cowrie rewards, by just placing random stuff into the factories. I don't even know how the spreadsheets look like.

lol I am the same I am almost rank 20 now and I have never used the spreadsheet and I enjoy working it out and I have everything from there now. I am unsure on the new mount as it is just a recolour so maybe I will go down the route of the lockboxes.

I'm more worried that if you don't get the rewards now, you will probably begin to miss out in Dawntrail as people start losing interest in staying up to date on the spreadsheets.

Just got my isle to R20 today. Considering it requires 29 weeks (7 1/4 months!) to acquire the mount assuming the voucher Vegetal Voucher aren't MB-able, it looked like a weak attempt to keep people subbed until Yawntrail lol.

In concept I liked it. But when they timegate it to 10 minutes of setting up per week, that doesn't add much on top of the daily 10m checkups.

You can buy the vouchers. If you don't have the money, learning aspects of the game where you can make money is also content you've clearly skipped. You can do it in parts, only grinding it when you're subbed. 1 month now, one month before DT, one month after launch and you're almost half way. You can grind other long grinds at the same time, so you're not subbed for the island alone and maybe you'll even consume new content slower.

You can get the Island Adenium mount with the lootboxes too, so unless you really want to work towards the Adenium for 7 months there's not much reason to buy the vegetal vouchers over the lootboxes, considering you can also get the Peerifool mount and other exclusive things from that too. Though, you can sell them on the MB, so its probably a good way to make a few million gil per week at the moment as they seem to be selling for 400-500k per voucher on the MB atm. It will definitely tank in a few weeks/months as more people reach rank 20.

I personally like the idea but similar as with fate vouchers, I wish they would let you start grinding it while lvling instead of waiting until you\\'re done. Kinda like how they did it with ishguard restoration.

I also feel like this is totally put in place as a reason for people to stay subbed. I mean it takes 29 weeks to get enough vouchers for the mount. Seems to line up pretty well with when we assume dawntrail will come out.

Unless you feel spicy and wanna try via lootboxes instead that is.

I doubt this mount is exciting enough to anyone to make them feel like they're "forced" to stay subbed to get it. It's more like an extra available for those who are staying subbed for other reasons. Those who don't want to stay subbed but want the mount can always buy it off the marketboard as others have said.

If it's purchasable on the MB, how is it locked behind a grind? It's not technically locked if not everyone is forced to do it to gain the item.
Relic weapons would be locked imo cause you can't just wander up to the MB and buy your completed relic.
The mount only requires one person to do it for others to get it.

Getting millions of gil is another form of grind. There's little "difficulty" involved but there is a time investment and grinds are about the time investment.
