I don't think the fight is that hard only thing that sucks is fkin Shrek move that goes off in 1 sec. That move is far to fast with the delay this game has, you have more time to dodge ifrit cracks.

Garuda needs a static, and once you understand her moves I can see how it would be fun. I like that SE is making people actually pay attention and have everyone do their part in the party, however, I don't like that it's also quite gear dependent. I'm all for a fight that challange is based on skill, but when it requires me to have double melded crap, it makes me grit my teeth.
Not sure if this video has been posted yet or not but, enjoy.
The setup is WHM BRD BRD WAR DRG MNK PLD
What the hell you talkin' 'bout? You do know Blue Gartr beat it within a day and posted the video on the forums? Just watch the frickin' video.I'm wondering if anyone has beaten Garuda since they fixed the manaburn exploit, because it seems like she is unbeatable now. If someone has done so, would they be kind enough to explain how they did it? If not, are there any plans on the devs part for additional adjustments?
The strat me and my friends use it's pretty easy but heavily relied on good bards. If we do a /sh and get bad bards that can't get the plumes we lose. Other then that, Garuda really isn't that bad.
Have it done many times before and after manaburn nerf with 1 whm, 2 brd, 2 war and 3 blm not all triple/double meld gear or DL gear just know where to move and how to play
I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.
The progression of threads like these is rather frustrating; they outline a paradox. Those with enough free time to acquire the resources to obtain the most expensive equipment come to the forums and whine that "this game is easy mode," and that they want something harder - then they exploit their way to 7/7 and never go back, leaving the average community as the sole patrons of the difficult fight they asked for. It just reeks of hypocrisy and entitlement.
I'm all for overcoming a challenge, but why not nerf the dps check a bit at this point? It's not like the people who begged for this fight are going to even notice being that they easymoded out of it months ago. Philosophically speaking, there'd be literally zero impact.
(That said, I really don't think the requirements are anywhere near as bad as people say; there's just say too much, "I shouldn't have to learn how to clean plumes, you should be out-DPSing my lack of skill!" going on.)
Regardless of the difficulty, I'll learn the fight and win legit and static my way to what I want; however, at the same time, I think this is a great example of why the last people you ever want to listen to when developing your game are the minute percentage of people who have never stopped paying subscription fees for a service they claim to hate, instead choosing to remain so invested that they spend even further amounts of time becoming the loudest voices on said game's official website forums: claiming to despise an activity they never stop partaking in.
You stay classy.

Few problems with this. First of all, free time does not equal awesome gear. There's plenty of people who /s spam in Ul'dah from dawn 'till dusk and don't have anything and plenty of people who work 50 hours a week and have capped gil and quad melds. Unless you're buying gil, most people who are rich are rich because they're intelligent and have an eye for the wards and the economy and continuously strike while the iron is hot. So smart people = lots of gil = better gear. The progression of threads like these is rather frustrating; they outline a paradox. Doesn't hurt that many of them are also crafters and have played the game since launch.
Secondly, the best players on every server could beat Garuda with our without the BLM burn. Most of the top NA and JP linkshells were able to down Garuda before we released the BLM burn strat and these people aren't people who would be doing the content with random PUGs anyway so the Ul'dah masses didn't miss out on anything. The only thing the BLM burn video did was allow far more bad players to get Garuda weapons than otherwise would of been possible and -regretfully- drastically decrease Garuda's lifespan as prime time content. (Ifrit Extreme feels like SE's revenge fight FYI)
Garuda is now back as part of the relic quest (which is by far the most difficult questline in the game) and so I wouldn't expect any nerf. In fact, i'd say it's completely out of the question.
Most good players read these boards for laughs, I can't think of any reason to try and post something constructive here unless asked directly or on job forums.
Can't wait for the 1st Ifrit Extreme is too hard thread.
