You have just crushed all my hopes and dreams ;----;

you dont NEED darklight gear... we do fine without it. Its just keeping enough acc and dmg, whether its by food or materia or a combo of AF.
Only thing is, you DO need to practice alot. Pple can tell you how to do it, but until you see and feel the timings for yourself, it will feel like its impossible.
Maybe for those who want to try garuda more, try posting on the forums or something to see if pple are willing to do some statics?
FFXIV Since Sep. 2010: Selbina/Ridill/Excalibur (Mergers)
Currently moved to Leviathan
I remember the Alpha days when even breathing lagged you

they actually did punish them in obtaining relics. . but still no one who had beatin garuda post fix will bother fighting her now unless he needs the relicWhy trying to beat her if you already got all your weapons from manaburn?
It was a mistake on SE's part to legalize that bug, as it effectively killed the content.
What they should have done is not punish those who used that way before the bug was confirmed (which weren't that many), but once it was, they should have stated abusing it is against the ToS and acted accordingly. Then the majority of the population would still be making Garuda runs.

Like this.
Well, granted, we got it to 1% because I messed up, but we went back after I got a new stack of arrows and beat it.

I'm going to say it like this... you all whined about the bosses are too easy now the team gave you what you wanted... if you go in and get slapped around... the game is not going to end... that simply means quit crying and making excuses, dust yourself off and keep trying. only YOU can win this fight. If you say you're "the best" at your job then prove it beat Garuda. Until then shut up because you got beat by a girl.....
One reason is that the fight is hard, second reason is that the rewards you get from Garuda aren't that appealing.
It's the second reason why I don't bother with Garuda, and the first reason just kills off any inkling of motivation I have.

At least you need to fight Garuda for the relics.![]()

My ls is learning it now....AFTER the blm burn thing was fixed. I really didn't even suggest we try it pre-fix simply because, to me, it wasn't worth it. Sure, we could have gotten a quick achievement and farmed the weapons...BUT what were we gonna do when a new person in the shell wanted to fight it? Say No? That being said, we've maybe set aside 5-6 times now post patch to attempt to learn to kill her. Of the group,2-3 have cleared the content (w/ BLM burn), but the rest do not. We've been adjusting our gears/jobs and strategy accordingly so that now we safely skip the second phase and are getting closer to taking down both of her adds before we wipe. But as we only try once every 5-6 days or so, and are learning as we go, it's taking us some time. Some people would say 'well, you all suck, that's why you haven't beaten her yet.' I'd argue that we just haven't spent enough time to learn the fight and our respective roles in it yet.
But people judge how they judge. Also, unlike Moogle/Ifrit where experience players are STILL doing the content, very few experienced players kill Garuda...so we don't have parties of 6+ experienced players teaching the 'noobs' like we did before. This also keeps people from learning/achieving the battle. Yes, there IS a DPS check...and yes, you need to know how to keep the damage up and the plumes down, but at the end, most people who have this down, just need to learn the battle mechanics (where to stand, when to rest mp/when to burn/when to save tp, run etc). And this takes practice...practice most people in game aren't motivated to do atm.
Our LS is currently learning how to win the fight and we've made progress on every run we've had. You don't have to have the best gear to win the fight, that's for sure. We got through Aerial Blast on our first run (not on first try though), then learned how to do more dmg in phase 1 and survive the phase 2. On our last runs we've gotten to the clone part and have struggled with killing the melee clone and evading the tornados which we didn't get until 3 times in a row on our latest run. We're slowly getting there and it's been a great project for us as a group.
Even though I haven't killed her yet I can say you don't really need to have the best gear to beat the fight. Our LS is very casual, we don't have a single dark light piece and our gear is single or double melded. You do need to be able to hit her and hit her hard enough to get through AB and kill the clones fast enough, but that really isn't too difficult to achieve. What you need the most is for everyone to know what they're doing and be able to follow the strategy and do their best.
Also, I do see other groups there trying the fight and even winning. People are doing this, but mostly in linkshells (as it takes time to learn and most PUGs aren't that cooperative).
In short: There's nothing wrong with the fight difficulty, it definitely shouldn't be nerfed, and if your group really is that well geared and skilled you just haven't taken enough time to learn the strategy. Practice, practice, practice.

Difference of opinion here, but I think primals should be hard. I mean dungeons should allow for less hardcore ppl to win, but a primal is an optional standalone boss that, given its lore, should not be "for everyone". I think Garuda is great because it does primals justice, and it provides a great optional challenge.
The entire fight basically forces you to speed run it in order to win, and as you said people just don't have the capability or gear to pull it off. Frankly if they just lowered the minimum amount of pillars needed to survive Ariel Blast and perhaps tone down her Mistral moves a few hundred points of damage or at least remove the instacast post Ariel Blast so people could actually dodge I think she would be much more manageable for less hardcore groups.
