Post Dyes? Why can't we get a color wheel?

Why are we extremely limited to a few dye colors when we could have a decently-sized color wheel? I think it'd give the glamour system a HUGE improvement, and glamour is something all people do, to a small or bigger extent.
They could do it like, if you want x color range, you have to buy x dye. And that would keep the dye system the same. Suggestions on this are welcomed.

Yes please. It's always disappointing when I try to go for just the right shade or hue, but the closest dyes are not close enough to what I want.

    Give me better purples Square.

And yeah, I dislike how dye items work as they are now. Rather than making individual dyes for every colour, why not instead just have 1 dye that unlocks the entire colour range? 1 red dye should let you choose between all red options, rather than having individual dyes like Dalamud or Wine. I'd be okay with special dyes being an exception if Square really wants to keep Pure White and Jet Black "rare" (or because they want to keep selling it on the store), but at the very least the common colours should be better.

A color wheel would be much more efficient, citizen. This has my support.

I would love this. A color wheel for character creation would be awesome as well!

I'd assume that a color wheel would require storing the data of the color as 3 sets of 8 bits (0-255 for R G and B values), whereas current system can be stored as one set of bits of whatever length (eg if there's a total of 128 or less dye options, it's 7 bits total). Effectively, it'd be tripling the data stored for each item, and we know thanks to how bad the Glam Dresser currently works, that the 'data attached to item' causes a lot of issues already so we probably don't want to complicate it further

Instead, I'd agree with consolidating the dyes required so that Wine Red, Dalamud Red and Rose Red or whatever, all shades of red, require one 'Red Dye' instead of having to get the specific variant. It sucks when the Fashion Report asks for a certain dye and you go 'oop guess I have to go to the Sahagin vendor for this one'

They probably ought to address the imbalance in colors too. Why is there like, twice as many greens as there is purples?

Because dyes are literally the best selling thing on the mogstore. Can't give people the real black or white for free.

And a wheel would be a step in that direction. Some they won't take for sure.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Square only uses a single byte to represent dye data, which would make a true colour wheel... difficult. Even still, that's 256 potential dyes to work with, I'm sure we could increase the amount of colours we have now to at least give us extra hues and shades.
