Please fix the portrait system.

Portraits are a fantastic idea and I loved them when they were first implemented. The issue is if you do anything to your gear at all, the portrait breaks and uses the default. If you change a ring, the glamour on your feet, if you change Materia, if you extract Materia, if you do anything to your gear at all, the portrait breaks. It is ridiculous. It's gotten to the point that most of the people I see in duty finder content just keep their portraits on default because it's too much of a pain to fix it. Please just keep my portrait as I set it and stop letting it be affected by gear changes.

Yeah, the current portrait system sucks. I don't understand why every little change fucks it up, even attaching materia or extracting it...
I don't understand why we have to update it every time to use your current gear, why can't we use any other gear? I think that's a poor decision.
I don't understand why we can't use portraits that use other jobs than the one you are playing, etc. I like that there's one portrait per job, but why can't I just copy and paste my samurai portrait for my astro for instance? You could argue that well, you are playing astro so you need an astro portrait. I don't think that restriction makes sense, but well, someone could argue it does.
Why can't we slow down animations in gpose and the portrait? It's really damn difficult to get a decent pose sometimes, specially with some combat animations, e.g.: the pvp LB animations for the portrait.
I understand that "it has just been introduced" and I'm grateful for this addition, it's great, but there's some decisions by the dev team that I don't quite understand and features I'd like to see improved.

Once upon a time, in the early days of /portrait, before they added restrictions on angle, field of view, and face visibility, someone made a character portrait that looked like someone was performing nsfw acts on themself, and now we have restrictions on angle, field of view, and face visibility. Changing gear and job potentially change visibility, so the portraits need to be validated with each change.

We would really benefit from a scrub bar and frame advance button so that we don't have to play the animation on loop and mistime the pause fifty times before getting it to stop on exactly the right frame.

To supplement OP, I'd even be fine if gear changes resulted in my Portrait being automatically updated. Either keeping the portrait the old way or updating it to the new way both seem fine for me; but resetting the portrait to default seems like a result that literally no player who went to the effort of making a portrait would want.

I honestly might make my own thread about this as well because i want people to see an original post on this specific topic of failure and not a comment after the fact, but hey here's my engagement for you- as a player who switches between PC and PS5 for personal comfort, it's a nightmare to keep everything synced properly and functioning on both ends so that the mismatched gear sets don't completely break the portraits' abilities to function. I like my portraits, i want them to be the same on both ends and i want them to work on both ends.

The current upload/download sync system is fine for when its a reasonable assumption that you wouldn't want people's sets to change to something completely unplayable on their other devices, but portraits, to remain functional pretty much demand that your setup be the exact same across devices so you can constantly upload and download the character data- at which point it may as well be automatic anyway.

I noticed this too, leave it on default since I changed my gear all the time and not much time to play so I have to decide how to use my time most fruitfully.

I just wished you could opt out of them, cause no, its not turned off if everyone else sees the crappy default pic. Thats when i hate such features, the moment they become somewhat mandatory.
