Might as well just call it the venue advertisement channel.

You can just make chat bubbles a toggle. Simple as that.
And yeah as others said, kinda hoping this is troll. One person said they'd quit so clearly it's a horrible idea
I think I would have to pass on global chat.
I have seen it often enough in other games to know its a bad idea. it only works if there is some form of moderation, and I think we can use the example of the forums, which should indeed be moderated, to know that SE would leave a global chat as the wild west and let people police it through reporting. people in general are not responsible enough to have a global chat. period.
Huh, that's weird. I had another part in that last post but it disappeared for some reason.
If they implement global chat, you can bet your ass I'll turn that shit off right away. Look at how shout chat is during hunts. Now imagine that all the time.
I say the option is nice but have it on a separate tab that way it won't interfere with tells/say/shout/FC/etc...
Only seen when you WANT to see it. Also it either needs modereration for the chat for each server or at the least some report function made specifically for it.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
It would need 24/7 GM moderation. Player reports...well, we've seen how that goes for everything in game, and on the forums. Without people being paid to monitor it exclusively it will devolve into a cesspool of trash talk and harassment, just like global chat does in almost all other games.I say the option is nice but have it on a separate tab that way it won't interfere with tells/say/shout/FC/etc...

Global Chat could be worth trying out. Worst case scenario, people can just hide it. Maybe put some restrictions on it so new characters can't use it right away, maybe you have to be at least level 20 or something. Make a new rule in the TOS that Global Chat is for discussion only, no ads for venues or events.
One concern I'd have is that it would be way too busy. It'd be like reading a popular streamer's Twitch chat or something, stuff just flies by at the speed of light, it's impossible to read anything. If that ended up being the case, I think it would not really have any value.
I think somebody also mentioned the chat bubbles idea in here too, that would be fun for those who want it. Again, if you don't like it don't use it. It would probably be an opt-in feature anyway.
noits bad enough people use /yell for pee chat or .sh for advertising their brothel do not need see that stuff world wide. just make a linkshell.lot of people in Omega's NN been talking about this idea with me and we wanna see it implimented. we feel like NN is currently being used everywhere as a global chat and that its not fulfilling its purpose because of this, so we wanna see a global/universal/server chat added to the game for EACh server so that players can connect anytime, anywhere regardless of fcs or instances.
to protect the chat from RMT, accoutns would need to meet certian criteria but ideally free trails could use this place too (since the game is so big on ft now, its not much fair to exclude them from it)
to protect the chat from things getting out of line, moderators would be appointed. those can be players, mentors or GMS. thats not for me to decide just to suggest.
lastly, during downtime, drought time, or just for help making friends, the global chat would be a good way to keep the games community connected together. alsmost every other game has one and it sucks 14 doesnt
