    I agree with OP. I miss the FFXI exp party feeling, where you needed to know a mob and its abilities and the kill needed a lot more effort (well-timed Skill-Chains, Stuns, a good puller). Right now, in parties, I don't even manage to use ws, since have no time to build tp lol.

    I really have to wonder though if some of the people complaining about the combat in XIV have ever done "endgame" content of any type though. If you think crowd combat is too easy in this game, there is no way you have ever done CC or Hamlet. If you think there are no difficult single enemy fights, try Garuda.

    Well, Garuda, CC and such are not "normal mobs". What I was referring to is roaming enemies the an exp party would take for exp. Do you remember the feeling of fighting coeurls in FFXI (can't remember the name of the cave), or fighting crabs, gobs etc? Or the feeling and emotion when pulling skellies?

    That is what I was referring to. Of course there indeed is challenging content in FFXIV too and very good one so far too..... taken out the drop rates xD

    Boss fight is a thing, trash mobs in dungeon is a different story. I don't want to use melees only in boss fight because trashs are so weak they can killed aoe without any issue.
    I don't want a huge nerf to aoe, but seriusly, something have to be done

    This issue, it runs a fair bit deeper than simply the large amounts of foes faced at the same time in XIV.
    It's not like you guys have an issue with XIV itself, but you have an issue with the style by itself. I'm very sure you guys wouldn't like a game like Dynasty Warriors, or schmups with wide arc shots, or half the fights in Kingdom Hearts 2.
    It's pretty much not a fault of XIV's battle system or design, it's simply that the design style does not fits your tastes, and it's not a style that is unique to XIV either and I am very sure that you would not like any of the games in which this style is utilized.

    Unfortunately, it's a unsolvable problem, because as a matter of taste, one can say that for each one that hates it, there is one who likes it. So in the end who do we gotta cater to? The one that most align with the developer's ideas, of course.

    I agree with OP. When theres to much monsters, it takes away alot from combat, and it just feels like a spam fest.
    1-4 mobs, more or less sounds like fun to me. There should be a balance between single target and aoe attacks.

    At the moment, at places like strongholds, that fine line seems very far away to me.

    A good way to solve this is to.introduce elite mob where their exp equivalent of exp.u can get in 5-10min and the fight will takes that long as well.

    ^ yes, we need "party" monsters that are somewhat like TERA's BAMs. They shouldn't be NM/HNM difficulty(1-shot abilities) but last long enough to kill (1-2minutes). It'd be even cooler if the chain rewards on them were even greater.


    People are so boring and keep suggesting one or the other on practically anything brought up on these forums. It's not black & white all the time.
    Many people still see FF14 as a VERY slow game, the last thing we need is bland 1 monster battles with no mechanics or real strategy as the new standard.

    If the community would just be vocal enough to bring agreement to a subject then we can have the best of BOTH worlds.


    Having said that, SE, can you please add "party" monsters (with mini-mechanics?) in ADDITION to what currently exists so that we can have more variety while adventuring?


    EDIT: Ochu, Behemoth, Ogre, and many others would make great "party monsters". It would be interesting to see the big Ochu's eating the little adds around them unless you killed them off.

    I would love to see mob party's in xiv. the moblin troops were a pretty interesting thing to deal with in xi. To bad it never went much farther then that.

    I agree, that if they add the one mob battles in addition to what we have, it would be super. But, as it stands now, the spam fest we face today, has no real strategy or mechanics, and is completely boring. Hey look at me pull 15 mobs and watch as blm's throw fire combos at it, and repeat process. wow, so hard :P
